To join in the fun and get details click here. This tag along is hosted by Bitten by Paranormal Romance.

About my blog:
On my blog you will find that I prefer adult romances and my favorite genres are paranormal, historical, fantasy, time travel and erotica. Although I do read the occasional YA novel.

If you have a adult book blog, please sign up for this tag along. There are others including myself that are looking for you so please join us.

Do you judge a book by the cover?

Everybody always picks a beautiful cover for this meme so I decided that this week I would post the ugliest book cover I could find. I was originally looking for a cover in the romance genre but then I stumbled upon this one and almost fell out of my chair. The book cover I picked this week to feature in this weekly event is "Zombie Raccoons & Killer Bunnies" by Martin Greenberg.

Goodreads Blurb:
From a farmer at war with Nature's creatures, to dangerous doings when the henhouse goes on-line, to the hazards of keeping company with a book wyrm, here are ingenious tales that will make readers laugh or cry-or double-check to make sure that their windows and doors are firmly locked against the things that prowl the night.

My thoughts:
I found this cover to be hilarious and its even funnier to think that this book is in the horror genre. I think I'm going to have nightmares. LOL

Goodreads Blurb:
The first in a new erotic romance series, Backstage Pass is a sizzling mix of sex, love, and rock n' roll It's been months since Brian Sinclair, lead guitarist for the famous rock band, Sinners, composed anything. Unable to write the music that once flowed so naturally, Brian is lost without his musical mojo. But when sexy psychology professor Myrna Evans comes on tour to study groupie mentality, Brian may have found the spark he needs to reignite his musical genius. When lust turns to love, will Brian be able to convince Myrna that what they have is more than just a fling, and that now that he's found his heart's muse, he doesn't want to live without her?

My Review:
This is Olivia Cunnings debut novel and her first in the Sinners on Tour series. "Backstage Pass" is well written and I think Olivia has a lot of potential for the future. I was excited to read this novel because of the rock band idea. I've read a lot of books in my life but I can't recall reading any that centered around a rock band. Olivia does a great job building her characters and you'll grow to love them all. The members in the band are all very different except that their all drop dead gorgeous and super sexy. Olivia also knows how to write a very hot and steamy novel. This book will be a real treat for our die hard erotica fans.

Myrna is a psychology perfessor  that specializes in human sexuality and happens to be a rock 'n' roll fan. Myrna had some trouble her a ex husband in the past that keeps her from dating, and the word love is out of the question. Then we have Brian who wears his heart on his sleeve and falls in love very easily. Which you wouldn't expect from a famous lead guitarist in a band name Sinners. Brian also has a special way of writing music and it happens to be during sex. Right from the beginning Brian and Myrna are attracted to each other and start having hot, fabulous sex.

There were a few things that bothered me in this book but are totally based on my opinion. First, there wasn't a lot of sexual tension in this book. They go at it right from the beginning. Although some erotica fans would have no problem with this I just felt like they could have taken it a little slower to build the excitement. I also felt like the book didn't have any major conflict or action. I kept waiting for her to get kidnapped or something. So about half way through the book I got a little bored but then it picked up again at the end.

I would highly recommended this book to fans of erotica. It is full of hot, steamy sex of all types. If your not into all types of kinky sex this book isn't for you. There are very explicit sex scenes including one m/f/m scene. Because of the two issues I had I will be giving "Backstage Pass" a 3 star rating. I know that there are some readers out there who are going to love this book so don't let my opinions totally sway your decision to read this book.

Olivia will be here on Oct. 11th for her Blog Tour. So come back and check it out.

Review: "Crushing Desire"

"Crushing Desire"

Goodreads Blurb:
Reena Harrison was a wickedly curious girl who has blossomed into a fiercely loyal woman. She has several suitors, but the one man she has always loved is not one of them. After a proposal goes dreadfully wrong, fate and friends conspire to put the two together.
Joshua Sinclair has to admit he is fascinated with the tall beauty that he met when she was only a girl. After years of denying his feelings in pure military fashion, he finds himself thrown together with her in a scheme that he has little control over. How can he possibly rule his emotions when he finds himself posing as the sensuous woman’s husband?

My Review:
Crushing Desire is full of lively characters that you're going to love, as the author has done a great job building the characters. It didn't take Reena and Joshua soon to become very dear to my heart. Reena starts as a young girl who is on the cusp of womanhood, and she grows into a beautiful woman by the end of the book. She's not a typical girl during her time period (Crushing Desire is a historical romance, with time period of 1784-1789). She is very smart and tends to read and talk about things some people would think is inappropriate and she happens to be very good at chess. Since she first laid eyes on Joshua, she was in love.

Joshua is older than Reena and has some issues to work out before he can acknowledge his feelings for her. Joshua is a hero you are going to love as much as Reena does. He's smart, handsome, kind, brave, and did I say handsome? He doesn't mind Reena's love for books and conversations of subject matters others might think are inappropriate.

The author does a great job writing this book. She gives very vivid descriptions. She makes us feel all the character's emotions including love, suspense and frustration. Overall the story is beautiful but I felt like the middle was drawn out a little longer than it should have been. I felt like they should have admitted their feelings a lot sooner than they did they have the answers right in front of their eyes but refuse to accept it. Then at the end of the book the author does a great job filling it with action, suspense, adventure and joy.

I gave this book a rating of 4 because I was a little frustrated during the middle of the book but overall I liked it. I would recommend this book to historical romance fans. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Review: "Dark Peril"

"Dark Peril"
by Christine Feehan
Series: Carpathians #21
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Pages: 400
ISBN: 9780349400099
Author's website: www.christinefeehan.com
Published: September 9, 2010

Goodreads Blurb:
Dominic of the Dragonseeker lineage, one of the most powerful lines the Carpathian people has, ingests vampire blood laces with parasites in order to be able to go the very heart of the enemy camp and learn their plans. It is a one way mission. He knows he has little time once the parasites and the blood go to work. He plans to get in fast, relay the information to the leader of the Carpathians living in the area and go out fighting—an honorable way to end his life.
Solange Sangria is one of the last of the jaguar people, a royal pureblood. Her people, once many are now nearly extinct, a dying species that cannot recover from the choices they made over hundreds of years. She has long been alone, fighting to save the remaining women who are able to shift, from the hands of Brodrick the Terrible, her own father who slaughtered her family and everyone she loved. Wounded, weary, she plans one last battle, hoping to stop the man who has made an alliance with the vampires, accepting she will not come out alive.
They are two warriors who have lived their lives alone. Now, at the end of their time, they find each other, a complication, neither saw coming.

Darcy's Review:
Usually the heroes in this series are so alpha and almost over board with their "You must obey me" ways, so it was great to read this one and the hero wasn't like that. Dominic was very confident in himself, so confident in himself that he could accept Solange and the warrior woman that she is. He accepted that she knew her limits and her strengths. I think they way that they both met, dreaming about the other, helped them accept the them. It seemed like the whole book was a quiet courtship between them, all the while still battling those that have chosen to go vampire and the evil jaguar men, moving along the larger story arc that has been going on over the last few books.

Review: "Wait for Dusk"

"Wait for Dusk" by Joceleynn Drake
Series: Dark Days #5
Genre: Urban Fantasy
Pages: 400
ISBN: 9780061851810
Author's website: www.joceleynndrake.com
Published: July 27, 2010

Goodreads Blurb:
Feared even by her own kind for her mastery of fire, the Nightwalker Mira is summoned by the Coven to take her rightful place as Elder. But with this honor comes grave responsibility—a commitment to the annihilation of the unleashed naturi. For now the foul creatures walk the earth—and neither vampire nor human will survive their horrific onslaught.
A tide of blood is sweeping relentlessly across the European continent, as Mira is dispatched to Budapest for the most devastating test yet of her astonishing powers—and falls into a well-laid trap. With the dark secrets that haunt her growing darker by the hour, she must confront the terrible truth of her past and protect her fragile sanity in the face of unanticipated treachery—a betrayal by her ally, her enemy, her lover…the vampire slayer, Danaus.

Darcy's Review:
Finally what I have been waiting for looked to happened in this book. Through out the who series the sexual tension between Mira and Danaus has been increasing with each new book. At times it seems that Danaus has accepted her, but then things happened and he backed away. So I was happy to see that circumstances happened that created a closer bond and more formal relationship between them.

Mira, dealing with the consequences of the last book has to go to Venice to formally claim her seat on the council. During this ceremony Mira was maneuvered into going to Budapest, where she knew a trap was waiting for her. Luckily she had some good allies going with her. While fighting people on all fronts the bad guys use Danaus' white knight complex to build a wedge between him and Mira, causing me to want to throw the book across the room. So much of their relationship is 1 step forward and 5 steps back, and I want it to STOP!!

We also learned more about Mira's past and we meet a new enemy to her, one that is more dangerous than anyone else that she has ever encountered. The same maneuvering that sent her to Budapest causes big repercussions with a big battle at the end, one that will bring exciting changes for the next book!
