Goodreads Blurb:
Atlanta has become the battlefield between human and demon. All her life, Evalle has walked the line between the two. Her origins unknown, she’s on a quest to learn more about her past and her future.

But when a demon claims a human and there’s no one else to blame, Evalle comes under fire. It’s no longer a question of learning about herself, it’s a question of survival. Through the underground of an alternate Atlanta where nothing is as it seems to the battleground of where her VIPER allies have become the force that is now hunting her, Evalle must prove her innocence or pay the ultimate price.

But proving her innocence is the least of her problems if she doesn’t stop the coming apocalypse. The clock is ticking and it’s about to become a lot hotter in Atlanta.

My Review:
Blood Trinity is the first book in the new Belador series by Sherrilyn Kenyon and Dianna Love. I was very excited about starting this book. The Belador series is about several new species never heard of before making the series totoally original.
Evalle, the main character, is a mix of two powerful species which makes her very strong and dangerous with special powers of her own. Unfortunately, most of her tribe treat her as an outsider and look for every opportunity to put her back in a cage. Evalle trusts noone in the beginning but as the story progresses she finds that she can trust a few and needs their trust in order to find out the truths about what's really going on. Someone is in Atlanta trying to set her up so that she's given the ultimate punishment, worst than death.

Evalle is partnered up with a man named Storm that has special powers of his own such as the ability to tell if your lieing. Evalle of course takes offense and thinks that he is sent to spy on her and get proof that shes a danger to society. She is also attracted to this mysterious man and wants so badly to trust him but knows that she can't, even after he has helped her keep her secrets several times. You are going to feel touched by Evalle's character because she is innocent but being blamed or suspected for everything.
This book was exciting, suspenseful, well written, full of action and a great typical urban fantasy. The worldbuilding was done in a way that I never felt overwhelmed with all the different species and such.

I would reccommend this book to fans of urban fantasy. This book contains no sexual interations except a few kisses so if you like a clean story this book is for you. Having said that I liked this book but I didn't love it. I love romance and I always have trouble with urban fantasies because of this. Urban Fantasies rarely have strong romance elements. But, I still know a great story when I read one so don't forget to check out this book.

All I Want For Christmas Is...

This is a feature/meme created by Danya @  A Tapestry of Words where you choose a book each week leading up to Christmas and say why it's made it onto your wishlist – and I'd love to see what books everyone else is hoping to get! So if you want to make your own blog post about it, please link up here. :)

My pick for this week is...

"Forbidden" by Christina Phillips

Genre: Historical Romance
Pages: 336
ISBN: 9780425238080
Author's website: http://christinaphillips.com
Published: September 7, 2010 by Berkley Trade

Goodreads Blurb:
Carys knew from the moment she first spied on Maximus in his naked barbarian glory that he was a dangerous Roman centurion - his taut, battle-scarred flesh marking him as a fearless warrior. But her desire for him was as undeniable as it was illicit.
Charged by his emperor to eliminate a clan of powerful Druids in Britain, Maximus never expects his mission to be thwarted by the clan's ethereal princess, Carys, his daring voyeur. Falling under her spell, he doesn't realize her true heritage - until he captures her heart as well as her body.
As Carys's loyalties are twisted, and freedom is no longer her single-minded obsession, an avenging former lover threatens to crush Maximus's people into oblivion. Now Carys and Maximus must overcome the devastation of war and face the ultimate sacrifice if their forbidden love is to survive.

Why I added this one to my Christmas wishlist:
I chose this book because I've heard lots of great things about it and it happens to take place in one of my favorite time periods. Its also supposed to be a very hot read. What more can I say? It has a fabulous cover. :)

Do you judge a book by the cover?

The book I picked for my featured cover for this week is "Afterlight" by Elle Jasper.

Goodreads Blurb:
The Dupres have been Savannah's guardians, appointed by a band of root doctors and hoodooists, for nearly two hundred years. They've all grown...complacent. Now, the Arcos brothers, who've long been entombed at Bonaventure, have been inadvertently freed by a group of teenagers horsing around in the cemetery. Determined to take revenge on the city who entombed them, the Arcos' gather strength in the city's youth. Within the moon's full cycle, the gang's quickening will be complete--they'll become vampires. Newlings, out of control and craving human blood will ravage the city. The one thing the Arcos' didn't count on was the powerful love of a sister. Riley Poe will stop at nothing to get her brother back. The one thing Riley didn't count on was the powerful love of a vampire. Eli Dupre will do anything to get her. Follow Riley, Eli, and the vampires of the Dupre House into the shadowy, underside of Savannah.

My thoughts:
I absolutely love this cover. Everything form her hair to her tattoos and the large blade she holds behind her back. Its a awesome cover that makes me want to read the book. I have a ARC that is next on my to read list so keep your eyes out for that to find out if the books as good as the cover.

Audiobook Review: "The Amaranth Enchantment"

"The Amaranth Enchantment"   by Julie Berry

Genre: YA, Fantasy, Fairy-tale
# of CDs: 7
ISBN:9781449824716
Published: March 2009

Goodreads Blurb:
When Lucinda Chapdelaine was a small child, her parents left for the royal ball and never returned. Ever since, Lucinda has been stuck in perpetual servitude at her evil aunt’s jewelry store. Then, on the very same day, a mysterious visitor and an even more bizarre piece of jewelry both enter the shop, setting in motion a string of twists and turns that will forever alter Lucinda’s path. In this magical story filled with delightful surprises, Lucinda will dance at the royal ball, fall under the Amaranth Witch’s spell, avenge her parents’ death, and maybe—just maybe—capture the heart of a prince.

My Review:
I found this audio book at the library  and I knew nothing about the book or the author but I was drawn by the cover, seeing that it was beautiful and a historical, and when I read the back it had some fantasy elements so I decided to give it a shot. I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed every moment of this audio.

Lucinda was born into a wealthy family and at age 5 her parents die when their chariot crashes. After their death it turns out that her parents were penniless so she is taken in by a Uncle by marriage. Her uncle's wife is mean and abusive to Lucinda and treats her worse than a slave. When her Uncle dies and her Aunt finally kicks her out of the house without even a coat to keep her warm she sets out on a great adventure. A homeless boy named Peter gets her into all kinds of trouble. Through all this she meets the Prince and ends up falling in love after a few cherished moments but it seems impossible that they'll ever be together.

The story was very exciting and suspenseful at moments. It seems Lucinda has the worst luck in the world so through out the story your wishing something finally goes her way. I also enjoyed the narrator, she was great at creating all the different voices but Lucinda's voice was actually my least favorite but she doesn't distract from the story.

I listened to this audio book in the car while I was driving and I found myself sitting in my car after I had already reached my destination so that I could listen to more. I think the print edition would have been a page turner for sure. I recommend this book to readers, young and adult, that enjoy a good retelling of a great fairy-tale. This book had Cinderella like parts but was much better.
