Love.
For some, love is the reason they get up each day and take life by the horns. The knowledge that someone out there is made just for them inspires greatness each day. For others, it is another four-letter word that brings forth bad memories and bouts of sadness. The past chases and plagues them.

Life...
it is a never ending series of learning experiences of the heart and soul. All who love are lucky because they are given an opportunity to learn not only about themselves but also about others through gain and loss. No relationship is perfect and not all last, but they all mean something and are worth it, if even for just one fleeting moment of joy.

Often...
not getting what you want opens your heart to what is waiting for you on the other side of the lessons. Within these pages, tweleve brave souls open up their hearts and share their experiences so that others might learn that it is not the end of a relationship that defines you, but what you learn from that end.

Sometimes...
not getting what you want can be the best thing for you.

MEET THE AUTHORS:

C.L. Foster
CL is eclectic, geeky, positive, nature-loving and completely non-"normal" (just the way she likes to be). She has been a fan of literature since she was a small child and finally decided to take her dreams (both waking and sleeping!) and do something positive with them.

CL has lived all over the world and has a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, minoring in Psychology and Forensics. Which means you don't want to cross her because she knows how and where to hide a body so it's never found! She proudly admits to hearing voices in her head, but at times, her characters' impromptu visits can be rude and annoying. Thankfully, she has adequate patience for their shenanigans and can out ninja them any day of the week.

You can find everything you need to know (stalker links, pictures, signings, and other delicious tidbits) at CL's website http://www.authorclfoster.com/

E.R. Rada

E.R. Rada is a NY native who's mind is in a constant battle with reality and fiction. He's been penning his tales while expressing his inner most demons and heartfelt wishes since he was able to rhyme.

Poetry and fantasy are his weapons of choice as his inner-most wish to be a dragon-riding, sword-wielding warrior has yet to come to fruition. E.R. knows there is no time limit on greatness, so he continues to float on his constant state of flux; learning, growing, and improving as time goes on.

E.R. is a battle worn soldier who will quickly compare apples and oranges, simply because he's told he can't. Never one to conform, he embraces his nerdy/geek tendencies and is well known for creating new and interesting ways to do things (see: stubborn/the hard way). In doing things his own way, he has earned his way through life with plenty of battle scars, knowledge, and memories.

You can find E.R. on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/ERRada72

David Roraff

David, also known as Dave, Grunge, or even Wynter, is a chaotic mess that has a particular knack for the written word and getting into people's heads. Trespassing aside, he currently works two jobs, is father to two wonderful kids, and has multiple projects on the burner, stirred frequently.

This winter-loving poet and author lives in the land of cheese, beer, brats and lawless weather that is Wisconsin. He has only recently forayed into the world of writing as a true passion. Like madness, gravity, or a neglected '67 Shelby, it took this joker a little shove to get him started, but hopefully the push will maintain this knight's strength and words to keep him going for years to come.

A criminal justice major by trade and a mathematical-minded, role-playing, music and movie-fanatic, David is hard to pin to a particular genre or style. Then again, that might be part of his charm.

Janie-Ann Cagle

Janie-Ann Cagle lives near Pensacola, Florida. She is an avid reader and has been writing mostly poetry for many years. Janie-Ann loves to bring her sensitive side out in her poetry and loves to use her quirky humor in the writing of her short stories. She is mom to three lovely boys whom she loves to spend time with. She enjoys writing about things that everyone can relate to and hopes that the stories she tells can touch someone and make someone laugh all at the same time.

Janie-Ann is one of those people who can make you feel so special about what you are accomplishing in this world then put in on paper and share that with readers everywhere. She brings the passion of each character in her stories or poetry to life without sacrificing the other great parts of their character.

Janie-Ann will take you to that place you haven’t thought of going in a long while and at the end of the story, you are wishing you had gone there more often. She hopes you enjoy the characters she has created for this collaboration. Her story is a love story for sure but, more importantly; it is a story about the amazing people that come into your life as a result of true love. She read her first book, Dr. Suess' Cat in The Hat by herself at 4 and was hooked. She believes a good book along with shoes, makeup and purses will never let a girl down and that all heroes of all the books she has ever read or will ever write pale in comparison to her daddy!

She's am a sucker for a happy ending and love some hot sweaty sex with a healthy dose of romance.

Book Spotlight: "Into the Darkness" by K.E. Breene (NA Fantasy/Paranormal Romance

Title: Into the Darkness
Author: K.F. Breene
Genre: New Adult Fantasy/Paranormal Romance
Publication: January 23, 2014

I’d always been different. I saw objects in the night where others saw emptiness. Large, human shaped shadows, fierce yet beautiful, melting into the darkness. I collected secrets like other women collected bells; afraid to fully trust lest my oddities be exposed.

Until I saw him. He’d been gliding down the street, unshakable confidence in every step. It wasn’t just that he was breathtakingly handsome with perfect features. Something about him drew me. Sucked my focus to him and then tugged at my body. As his eyes met mine, I was entrapped.

No one had noticed him. He’d been right there, just beyond the light, but only I had perceived.

I had to know if he was real. Or maybe I really was crazy. And even when my secret box was blasted wide open, dangers hurled at me like throwing knives, I couldn’t stop until I unraveled his true identity.

I just had to know.

“She was fated to live.”
“Then why must you save her?”
“Often Fate is struck down by dumb luck.”

Into the Darkness is currently FREE on Amazon, along with these other books by K.F. Breene!

As I met his black eyes, his puzzled expression deepened. “You’re human…”
“We established that, yes. What I want to know is, if I am human, what does that make you? And why do I notice you when others usually don’t?”
His head cocked to the side. His easy balance, his lethal edge; he was like a blade resting on billowing silk. “Very few humans are able to withstand our pheromones. Fewer still to break a Kolma once it has been placed. You’ve not been trained, that’s obvious; so how is this possible when you’re definitely human? Do you possess the blood of another species?”
I could barely think past the pounding ache of my body, begging to touch him. I needed to get a grip! He was revealing some very interesting factoids I needed to jot down in my mental notebook.
His nostrils flared. “Charles was right; your arousal is a unique scent. Like a spicy, warm drink on a mid-winter’s night. It rises above other smells, entrancing the mind.”
“Umm,” charged with questions, determination, anger, and demands, I thrust forward, “Listen, what did you mean about withstanding the…pher-thing? Or breaking the other thing? How can you trap someone’s head with pleasure? Because I’m pretty sure—not positive, but pretty sure—that Jared is straight. And also, I really think we should circle back to what the hell you are, and why nobody knows that you exist? Because this whole people scattering thing is not normal, and I think an explanation is probably in order.”
He stepped closer, not hearing me, or not caring that I spoke. His eyes looked at me like I was a life-sized riddle. They delved, searching. He took another step, forcing me to retreat two steps to keep distance between our bodies. Another step back had my back to the wall.
A small smile curved his lips. “I exude pleasure, you run. I exude fear, you come calling. You want me, I can smell it. I can feel it, almost like a palpable thing. Give in to it. Yield to me.”
Oh God I wanted to. His body was mere inches from mine, his intense eyes looking down into my soul from a face out of a Renaissance painting. The power of him, the sheer strength, had strange, primal fantasies running amok through my head. My core tingled, my chest surged, and my nipples were so hard they could cut this stone wall.
Why had I come here, again?

A wine country native, K.F. Breene moved to San Francisco for college just shy of a decade ago to pursue a lifelong interest in film. As she settled into the vibrant city, it quickly became apparent that, while she thought making and editing films was great fun, she lacked cinematic genius. For that reason, her career path quickly changed direction. Her next goal was a strange childhood interest, conjured at the dining room table while filling out a form. For some reason, her young self wanted to be an accountant. Thinking on it now, she often wonders how she had any friends. Regardless, it was the direction she finally took.

While she could wrangle numbers with the best of 'em, and even though she wore the crown as the most outspoken, belligerent accountant in the world, her mind got as stuffy as her daily routine. It was here that she dusted off her creative hat and began writing. Now she makes movies in her head, not worried about lighting, shutter speed or editing equipment. Turns out, a computer is much easier to manage than a crowd of actors. She should know, she was an actor at one time.

The kingdom of Wilderheim stands bastion between the world of humans and the Otherlands. It is ruled as much by people as it is by creatures Other and as such, it must always have a wizard at the right hand of its king. Nico has seen three generations of rulers sit the throne; he knows he will not see the fourth. Desperate to find a worthy apprentice, when Nia appears like a godsend in his path he wastes no time taking her under his wing as his last sworn duty to the young king Saeran.

But Nia and Saeran have many trials ahead of them. With destinies converging toward an inevitable battle for power, countless lives hang in the balance, including theirs. As love brings them together, so strife tears them apart and as the balance between justice and magic shifts, the royal wizard and her king get caught in a maelstrom of colliding forces. Nothing is ever as it seems with a trickster hiding in the shadows. When the gods begin to play, mortals tremble…

The Royal Wizard is a fun, exciting, magical, emotional and memorable story that many fans of the genre will truly enjoy!

Found as a young child by the wizard Nico. Nia has been trained very well by him and is glad he is happy with his apprentice. Nia will serve his highness and complete the duties as a wizard better than any other. Well that's according to Nico. Nia on the other hand is scared to bits! Luckily she does not allow a bit of fear to stand in her way or she'd never know what she was truly capable of and she would never have built such an amazing relationship with Saeran...

I loved all of the characters, both good & bad. Loved the world the author created and deeply admire both Nia and Saeran (LOVE Saeran!) An excellent start to a new series that has me hooked! I will definitely be looking into more from this author in the very near future!

England, 1805

Lady Wilhelmina Stanhope is ruined and everyone knows it. Back in Town for the first season since her downfall, Willa plans to remain firmly on the shelf, assuming only fortune hunters will want her now. Instead she focuses on her unique tea blends, secretly supporting a coffee house which employs poor women and children. If her clandestine involvement in trade is discovered, she'll be ruined. Again.

No one is more shocked by Willa's lack of quality suitors than the newly minted Duke of Hartwell. Having just returned from India, the dark duke is instantly attracted to the mysterious wallflower. His pursuit is hampered by the ruthless Earl of Bellingham, who once jilted Willa and is now determined to reclaim her.

Caught between the clash of two powerful men, a furious Willa refuses to concede her independence to save her reputation. But will she compromise her heart?

I'm always iffy when deciding to read new historical romances by new to me authors because, to be honest, some are rather dull. I have to say I'm glad I got adventurous and read Compromising Willa. While very original, it was very entertaining, exciting and fun to read. A good read for any fans of the genre.

Willa has her future all set and mapped out in her mind. There's nothing she can possibly do that would ruin her or her reputation that's not already been said about her or supposedly done by her. She's learned from experience, not to care and accepted the fact she'll never find love. That's until an old flame returns and a new one ignites!

I'll definitely be looking into more by this author in the near future. I enjoyed the story and characters as well as her writing style. A 3.5 rating rounded to a solid 4 :)

WANTED: A Red-Hot Rebel

Ever since his father's famous bank robbery years ago, rodeo cowboy Jesse James Chisholm has been the bad boy of Lost Gun, Texas. A rule breaker. A heart breaker. But he's still haunted by his history, and the only girl who could match his wildness with her own—until she ditched her own bad-girl ways in favor of respectability….

But mayor-elect Gracie Jones isn't quite the upstanding role model she projects. Underneath those conservative skirts and blouses? Very naughty underthings. Jesse's return has stirred not only her long-slumbering wild side, but an insatiable hunger for this rugged, sexy cowboy. And this Texas town is going to see a side of the Wild West they never expected.

Texas Outlaw: Jesse is a sweet story about a rekindled love that never should have lost its fire to begin with. A good read for any fans of the genre looking for a quick fun read.

Gracie was once the town’s bad girl. But she's changed that and much more about herself since her high school days. She’s now the town mayor and...Well sort of happy. Plans she once had for herself and her life, she just let go of. The only thing she still holds onto for over the last decade is her love for a certain cowboy.

Jesse has a reputation that he was born with due to his father's past. He on the other hand is nothing like his father. But that doesn't matter. No one in the tow, except for a special lady and a couple of the town inhabitants are willing to see...him.

This story was not what I expected from its title and description and its ending left me...wanting. But it's still a well written and worthwhile story that I enjoyed my time reading.

“There would be no happy ending for us. He was too damaged. I was too broken.”

Two years ago, Lorrie’s mother was murdered. But that wasn’t the end of it. Reeling from the tragedy, Lorrie’s father spiraled into alcohol, depression, and finally suicide.

The two most important people in Lorrie’s life are both gone but she’s still alive.

Trying to recover from the tragedy, Lorrie returns to campus, ready to pick up the pieces of her life. All Lorrie wants is to get back to “normal.”

Then she meets Hunter. The man, the legend, “the Hammer.”

Hunter is a cage fighter who takes on every fight like he’s got nothing to lose. His life is a tangled mess of girls, booze, and fist fights. And while it may seem like he’s got a devil-may-care attitude, he’s fighting a private cage-match with a monster he can’t defeat.

Lorrie knows that Hunter is the exact type of guy she should stay away from, especially in her fragile state, but Hunter has other ideas.

As Hunter and Lorrie grow closer together, will they be able to overcome their pain and heal each other? Or will they both end up wrecked?

My Review:
A good start to a new series with one HELLUVA cliffhanger ending! I've heard book 2 is due out early 2014 and I'm a patient female reader. So I'm cool with that/ Wrecked is a great read for any fans of the genre that enjoy an emotional story with one hot main character ;)

Lorrie has been through a lot in only a few years time. Both of her parents are gone. She has no siblings and is pretty much...numb! She basically shut down to allow herself to deal with her pain. But is that really the answer to solve such emotional distress?

Hunter has also been through a lot. Very different from Lorrie. But he's also shut himself off in his own way so he can deal with HIS pain and...secrets. That's until he met Lorrie. Just looking into her eyes has changed everything for him...

I'm itching for the next book of the series and hope it picks up RIGHT from where it left off!
