Trekking through the jungle isn’t Ruth’s idea of a good time, even if her companions are hotter than hell. With her sister missing, though, she’ll do anything to find her – slog through swamps, squish giant centipedes, and fight her attraction to not one but two males intent on seduction. But when she discovers there’s more to the hunks accompanying her than meets the eye, will she accept their alter wolf egos, or completely freak?

Fate sure has a wicked sense of humor, trying to make Kendrick think the chubby human he meets in the jungle is his mate. Joke’s on him, though, because despite his preferences and attempts to stay away, he can’t help but fall for the tall and curvy Ruth. Harder to swallow, his buddy is falling for her too.

Joel knows firsthand how fickle human emotions are, but when he meets Ruth, all his best intentions get swallowed by the jungle as she worms her way into his heart – and makes him want to trust.

When Ruth’s human morals get in the way of two wolves and their need to claim what’s theirs, they’ll have to team up and show her two are so much more pleasurable than one.

Warning: Can you handle a pair of hot wolves determined to claim an unsuspecting human? Expect extreme heat and a whole lot of fun in this threesome, jungle adventure. (MFM)

My favorite line is from one of the male characters “Oops, almost drooled.” Human and Freakn' is another fun, funny, sensual, adventurous and all around terrific read by Eve! I cannot get enough of her writing, her humor, the steamy sex scenes and her imagination. There’s always a good time to be had within one of her works that any paranormal reader (a fan of erotic romance or not) will fully enjoy and find themselves addicted to!

Ruth is not one to go trudging through the jungle (even though she’s a botanist and adores all plants). But she’s on a mission to find and save her sister from the hands of whoever has her and is willing to do anything to get her back, safe and sound. Along her way she meets a bit of mystery, her increased dislike of insects and (on the plus side), two amazingly handsome hunky men! She needs to focus on the task at hand, finding her sister. Not trying to decide which one she could warm her sleeping bag with. But the two males have other things in mind…
Joel and Hendrick are like brothers. They’ve known each other for years and are very close as only brothers and best friends can be. When they embark on a mission to find three missing woman they are ready for anything and everything. Well except for running into a mate, especially now. But the fates have put it out there for them both and they find themselves unable to resist the temptation that is Ruth.

All three of the characters went through extreme growth, Ruth especially. She’s finally come to not judge herself and accept that she is all that she admires in others and more. Both males mature a great deal and learn to share VERY nicely. Love this trio! They have a bit of a bumpy road to get to where they all want and need to be. But in the end, it’s amazing, wonderful and complete :)

Just in time for the scariest season of all, three popular paranormal authors come together to tell original tales of romance where anything can happen under a Halloween moon . . .

Tempers flare and passions rise in Jocelynn Drake's Of Monsters and Men as the local werewolf pack clashes with the Winter Court's Wild Hunt . . .

In Terri Garey's The Ghoul Next Door, a witch and a warlock battle it out for possession of a haunted house, but the ghost may have her own agenda . . .

And, in Trick or Treathen by Caris Roane, a master vampire struggles to stay away from the mortal woman who enflames his very soul.

Three shorts by three talented authors. Each one an exciting, amazing and gripping adventure of love, acceptance and thrills, and each revolving around the Halloween holiday. This is a great read for paranormal lovers looking for a taste of new authors with great story telling and writing skill or if they just want some variety (with a side of spice) in their reading life :)

Of Monsters and Men- A sweet and exciting tale held fully in a paranormal world telling an instance where different paranormal breeds band together for peace and safety of their territory when normally they are enemies while others come together for reasons of love.

The Ghoul Next Door- A great eerie and fun tale of two people that are meant to be together but never really knew. Set during Halloween time with spirits, gore and evil intentions from someone known as a family member, Cassie and James take their first steps into a battle that brings them closer together. I really loved this duo and the surprises the story had in store :)

Trick or Treathen- WOW did this anthology go out with a bang! Trick or Treathen was jam packed with vampires, action, excitement and enough sex to feed ones sensual desire for some time. When a human and a vampire both are trying to resist their attraction to one another, it gets frustrating, haunting and (in some ways) painful. Once an unavoidable situation occurs and brings them together the mutual attraction is addressed by both, well let’s just say… OH MY!

Brigit Wolfe, a born werewolf, hasn’t killed a human in over a hundred years, although now, she wonders if the animal attacking people in Silver Creek, Colorado, isn’t her. But she might have bigger problems when her cowboy neighbor, Austin Calhoun, ambles into her bar. Austin hasn’t been a vampire for long, but he is determined to prove to himself that he’s worthy of his hunter’s dagger. Brigit’s rare beauty and blade-sharp tongue enchants him. She ignites a passion he thought was dead, but is she the killer his master sent him to destroy? During Austin’s investigation regarding Brigit’s involvement in the deaths, an old crime surfaces connected to her human best friend. These two immortal enemies have to join forces to solve the mystery before someone else dies. But can they survive the heat of their own desire?

A great paranormal read that constantly has you on your toes and keeps you in suspense. A Hunter’s Blade is so packed full of excitement, paranormal elements, mystery and romance that any paranormal fan could appreciate using it as an escape from their everyday realities :)

Brigit is a born werewolf that has been around for many years. She’s one female to be admired; very strong, independent, beautiful and kind.  When humans start being found dead right after her turning during the full moon she’s in a panic. She’s not killed a human in a long time, yet has no recollection of some of the time she was in wolf form. She gets even more panicked when a hunter named Austin shows up in her place of business and starts asking questions. It’s not only the questions that are bothering her, but the feelings his presence invokes within her.

Austin is a fairly new vampire and also a hunter. As a human he worked with the FBI and was darn good at his job. Now as a vampire, there are different rules, different hours and different dietary requirements, but he still gets to help the way he’s always loved. Currently on the hunt, he must investigate the murder of many humans. All clues are pointing in one direction, but he finds it very hard to believe, especially with the feelings he has whenever he’s around her.

Loved the characters and the fact that two sworn enemies come together in the very best of ways. One can never mess with the path fate has set and even trying to do so is just a waste of time and energy. I look forward to what Cera will bring us in the next of the series.

Magic flows through Jillian Proctor's veins as surely as blood, but so far her life outside Boston has been peaceful. William Morgan blows into Jilly's life like a hurricane, unleashing her magic and sending her out of control. Unknowingly, William brings an enemy who only wants to posses the power of the witch. Jilly must learn to harness her magic before she loses it - and everything in her life is destroyed.

I enjoyed the magical world Jessica Gibson created. Nothing was predictable and there was a surprise at every turn. Mark of the Witch is a very magical, touching and exciting read that any YA paranormal romance reader will enjoy an escape with. I look forward to reading the next in the series and see what type of adventure the characters go on next!

Jillian has power, a lot of it. It literally flows through her veins and it started right when she hit her thirteenth birthday. She easily accepted it for it was expected to happen. Her mother prepared her for that very day all of her life and continued to do so for as long as she could. With power comes... responsibility, trouble and (in her case) a ton of surprises. Things get really odd from the day she meets William. Very unsure about him, yet comfortable at the same time she has various feelings within herself that she cannot explain. One thing she does know is she’s attracted to him, a lot!

William is an immortal, also known as an Amaranthine. He’s been alive for a VERY long time and has seen and gone through many changes within that time. He’s meet others like him throughout his travels, both good and bad. Not many he can or is willing to call friend. When he travels back to his home town, because he feels it’s time to. He meets a beautiful woman and makes many discoveries that must be dealt with, one of them being this strange pull and building connection that’s growing ever since he set eyes on Jillian.

As soon as William and Jillian were in one another’s company more frequently, I was so comfortable with the two I started calling them Jilly and Willy :) They are such a great couple and each compliment the other in even the most dangerous of ways. I was glad to see them come together.

Guest Post: :Daughter of the Earth and Sky" by Kaitlin Bevis

I love to welcome Kaitlin Bevis to Romance Book Junkies. She's here sharing a guest post and promoting her book "Daughter of the Earth and Sky".

Happy Release Day!

Today my second novel, "Daughter of the Earth and Sky," comes out. "Daughter of the Earth and Sky" is a sequel to the young adult novel, Persephone. In celebration, I'm giving away a copy of both books!

Writing a book is a fun process. So is editing, to a point. I love writing. But the real editing starts when it gets in the hands of publisher. In less than three months, the novel goes through two rounds of copy edits and one round of content edits.

Content edits are when my editor goes through and reads the story checking for places where more or less explanation is needed and looking for errors in consistency. My editor recommends changes, I go through and make them, then I read through the whole story looking for other places to make improvements and to make sure the new changes flow. Then I do it all over again.

Copy edits are more for grammar and word choice. So for that one it's best to read through the story out loud to catch any mistakes. My husband was kind enough to listen so I had another pair of ears listening for any places I stumble over. Have I mentioned I love my husband? My three year old listens too, and tries to help. But her suggestions tend to be more along the lines of "more chocolate milk."

It's a good thing I like my book. I hope you do to.

Some vows can never be broken.

Persephone thought she could go back to her normal life after returning from the Underworld. She was wrong.
The goddess Aphrodite is born among the waves with more charm than she can control. Zeus is stalking Persephone and her loved ones, and Thanatos is no longer content with Persephone’s silence.

He wants her soul.

Persephone can’t tell anyone about Thanatos’ betrayal, and it drives a wedge between her and Hades. Her mother is still keeping secrets, and Melissa’s jealousy of Aphrodite threatens to tear their friendship apart.
Alone, Persephone turns to a human boy for comfort. But will their relationship put him in danger?
Sacrifices must be made, and Persephone must choose between her human life and her responsibilities as a goddess. If she doesn’t, she could lose them both.
But will either life be worth choosing once Zeus is through with her?

Book Club: Discussion week 3

Instead of us coming up with specific questions to answer about the book we are going to just do a open discussion were you can talk about anything you want and maybe I'll bring one thing up that caught my eye while reading to start the conversation. This month we're reading:

How did you guys like that ending point? Couldn't have been worse could it? How do you like the book so far and how do you think it's going to end?

A failed relationship and long hours at her flourishing practice have Dr. Brooke Allaire running on empty. When Brooke accepts a girlfriend’s gift of some holiday pampering at New York City’s posh Satin Rose Experience, she assumes she’s in for a weekend of facials and massages. Brooke soon realizes there’s more to SRE than meets the eye.

Ty Venice is a team player. He’s used to sharing submissives with fellow Dom Jackson Reid. However, if there was ever a game changer, Dr. Brooke Allaire was it. That is, until he gets a glimpse at her ultimate fantasy, to be possessed by two men at once.

The Satin Rose Experience, New York’s elite BDSM club residing on the twentieth floor of Rosebud Resorts, contains ten uniquely themed suites, each with its own story to tell. Fulfill your fantasy at SRE.

This is the second book of the Satin Rose Experience series and (I have to mention) it was so well written it can be read as a stand-alone. I do however recommend reading book 1, it was another hot one! Brooke’s Wish is a very sensual, awakening and romantic read that will leave any erotic romance reader wanting so much more :)

Brooke accepts a gift from her best friend. One that promises a great experience that will allow her the escape from everyday life that she craves and needs, especially being a doctor with its everyday stresses and the fact she just got out of a going nowhere relationship. Going in to SRE thinking she’ll be getting daily massages, facials and the like only to find out that the form of relaxation SRE has to offer is something she’s never experienced or thought of, she caves in and gives it a try and WOW does she get some superb treatment. Treatment that she’ll never forget, starting in the form of a fantasy she was not even aware she had and all with the delicious hunk of a man Ty.

Ty is a partner of SRE, among other things. He’s trained and been with many subs, mostly with the assistance of his good friend Jackson and all without the desire to hold onto the female in a relationship sense. From the moment he meets Brooke he wants her, but these feelings she brings forth are new to him and he’s unsure how to deal. His first priority is to give Brooke her fantasy, one she’ll never forget.

Brooke’s Wish has a great sexual build, fun and a hot M/F/M scene that brings feelings even further to the surface. If there was really an SRE out there, I’d visit with no hesitation, oh yeah! I look forward to what Sandra has in store for us next ;)

**An illustrated prequel to the Devil DeVere Series
Every devil has a beginning... A rebellious young nobleman's prank with the king's lion goes comically awry, leading to a startling chain of events. A riotous Georgian romp in the tradition of Fielding's Tom Jones.
**This title is NOT a romance**

A Note from the Author:
When I first conceived A WILD NIGHT'S BRIDE, a Georgian set, Hangover-inspired romantic comedy, I had no idea that one devilish secondary character would spawn an entire series, but Ludovic, Viscount DeVere, proved to be a dream come true. This larger than life character has captured the hearts of so many fans who have begged for more DeVere. So without further ado…. Here is how it all began….

Excerpt:
"But I know that look, and it always bodes ill."
"Come now, Ned," DeVere cajoled. "With only weeks until matriculation, we may never get another chance to serve up some revenge on ole' Trasker."
"What have you in mind?" Simon asked.
"Since our dear pedagogue is so fond of bear-leading, why not procure one for him?"
Ned looked stunned. "You wish to buy a bear?"
"Of course not," DeVere answered.
"Thank God," Ned replied with a sigh of relief.
"I only wish to borrow one."
"A bear?" Simon repeated.
"Yes. It can be a small one. As to age, size, or gender. I am not particular."
"And how do you propose to find one?" Ned asked warily.
DeVere replied with a look of pure devilment. "I propose a midnight foray to the Royal Menagerie."

A short prequel to the Devil DeVere series that is an excellent addition and that had me with a smile on my face from start to finish and even for a bit after words for its effects lingered on. Any fan of the DeVere series MUST read this prequel and anyone out there looking for a great historical romance series (even though this one is not so much romance) will love this introduction to DeVere and his band of long time buddies :)

We get to see DeVere, Ned and others of the series at the start of their friendship. Yes, as teens! DeVere is 19 and attending school, well for a part anyway. He’s up to his usual antics and of course drags along his friend’s right with him carrying the confidence only DeVere has. Deciding to play a school prank that’s the prank of all possible pranks, let’s just say things DO NOT go as planned. We also get more background on DeVere’s parents that give us a very clear picture of why he feels the way he does about them when it’s mentioned later in the series. I have to say, I now have an even better idea of what makes DeVere the Devil he is.

Anyone out there that enjoys a just an all-around good read will have a blast with Devil in the Making.

Tamara would risk her life to gain freedom. She's finally built up the courage to escape from a world of abuse by the hands of man who promised her the world. One night she makes a break for it, but her plans backfire. She begins to believe that she was never meant to be happy. When all hope of freedom fades, she stumbles across a wolf that brings her to safety. She learns to trust the wolf, but has yet to trust the man.

Devin, potential future leader of the Caedmon Pack, returns to the foothills of his Virginia home after five long years as a lone wolf. Rivals within the circle challenge him and threaten to strip him of his true birthright. Being bound to lead the pack was not something Devin had planned for his life, but letting his people fall prey to turmoil under the rule of his cousin Darius is out of the question. The night of Devin’s rise to Alpha leader is approaching. Despite opposition, he’s gained an impressive following. That is until he brings a human among the pack.

Tamara can’t deny the attraction she feels toward Devin. The Alpha leader-to-be simply cannot resist Tamara’s lure. When they are together, their tribulations take the backburner. Their desire for one another grows as they consummate their passion in wolf’s haven. Will Devin forfeit the most coveted position within the Caedmon Pack to bond with his chosen mate? Can Tamara trust Devin with her mind, heart, body, and soul or will the memories of her abuse dissuade her from being bound to the wolf?

I loved this story and did not want it to end, ever! Such an intense, sensual and exciting read that’s sure to have any paranormal romance fan panting for much more :)

Tamara is in a very bad relationship, one she is dead set to get out of by any means necessary, she just needs to find the courage to do it. When the day comes that she gets the nerve to make her move to escape the relationship, everything goes wrong! At one point she makes her move to run and ends up eye to eye with a wolf. The wolf helps her out in the most amazing ways, who would think a wolf would be so tame, strong and extremely smart. Tamara finds out once she awakens from resting up after her stressful and nerve-racking escape, but she’s unsure what to do now. Who can she trust and can she take any more chances in her life?

Devin was shunned by his pack, labeled as an outcast by his own flesh and blood. Now he is needed by his old pack and taking a chance by going to them. He’s the next potential Alpha of the Caedmon pack and really does not want the position. But the hands and the future of which the pack will fall upon if he does not step up and take his rightful place, his birthright, are unacceptable. But will the pack accept him even now with his past and a human by his side?

Devin and Tamara together are amazing! They complement each other in every way, even with their differences of species. When fate has its hands on something and leads it in a direction, there’s only one way to go… I cannot wait for book two to be in my hands and see which way Ambrielle goes with the story, situation(s) and everything!

Release date: November 9, 2012

Blurb:
Larksong Hammerstrike has always been just the younger sister of Princess Aryanna. Never quite as pretty or as smart, always lacking, a mere empath whose power gets her into trouble more often than not. But at Carnalval, the festival of all things sexual, she unleashes her sensual side for a night in the arms of a masked stranger. When morning dawns, Lark can't resist a peek beneath the mask of her lover and is once again crushed by fate. The man of her lusty adventure is none other than the future Lord of the High Elves and destined to marry her sister. As heir to the kingdom of Landis and current instructor of wizardry at the Academy of Magical Arts, Sarco Sunwalker is honor bound to rise above the temptation of the beautiful empathic student who invades his mind, body, and soul. But when sparks fly, lightning strikes, and thunder rolls, Sarco finds himself more than tempted by the storm of Lark's passion and vows to find a solution that will prevent a war between races, fulfill an infamous quest, and win Lark's hand.

There was only one word that could describe the creature standing before him. Wonderful.
“Did you say something?” the woman whispered.
He shook his head. “Nothing, I just can’t believe my luck. You really are real and here with me.”
She smiled, but her smile didn’t extend to her eyes.
Before another heartbeat passed or another breath taken, he stood at her side. With tenderness, he gazed into her gentle, masked face and took both of her hands in his. He was humbled as her fingers trembled even more than his own did. “We don’t have to do this if you’d rather not.”
She smiled wider, and her eyes gleamed with mischief. “I suppose we might as well. After all, we’re already here, and you’re at least halfway undressed.”
Sliding his hands up her arms and around her shoulders to her back, Sarco felt for and found the clasps holding her gown together. With the flick of a wrist, they gave way, and with a swish, the silky fabric fell to her hips exposing lush, rose-tipped breasts. Just the right size to hold in both hands, to fondle, to caress, to taste.
“Hmm, it seems you’re halfway undressed yourself.”

Maxine Mansfield writes fantasy, erotic romances. She lives in the far northern state of Alaska where the summer days are long and the winter nights even longer.

She has one very special man, his three equally special children, and their six delightful grandchildren in her life. Not to mention a very bossy African Grey parrot named Gabriel. Oh, and Gnomes! Many, many Gnomes.
