Sarah Miller is known as a dreamer in her stifling Mennonite community, but she's hiding something from them all. A simple wish to avoid the strictly enforced life path expected of her...early marriage, babies, and work on the farm.

She wants more, so much more. Education, travel, love...sex...

A chance at university hundreds of miles away is too much to pass up, so she follows her best friend Naomi and decides to take her future into her own hands.

She had no idea this decision would change her in ways she never imagined, will the one person she falls in love with hold her back from everything she ever wanted?

***As with all my work, this novel is intended for those 18+. It is New Adult, but contains depictions of graphic sex, drug use and underage drinking. However, if you are in the mood for an amazing story with sex scenes that will make your naughty bits tingle, you’re in luck!***

My Review:
ACK! There is a warning that it’s a cliff hanger but OH MY! Like Falling is an erotic, touching, fun and adventurous read that any fans of the genre will definitely enjoy!

Sarah was a sheltered teen. Growing up only knowing what she was taught by her parents and her church. Yes she attended school as well but Sarah is a VERY good girl. Well at least until she starts attending college and seeing exactly what the world has to offer…

Tyr was brought up very differently from Sarah. Two very different people from two different worlds (not literal planets though-lol). He has had a hard time of life. None of it having to do with his personal habits. More like the habits of his family. He’s a great guy with a greater heart. A heart that has a huge wall built around it. Is it possible he found the one that can break down the wall?

I’m very excited to see where the author will go with this series. A great start to a new series that I think many will become addicted to!

Seven days. And seven rules to break...

District Attorney Vanessa McGregor firmly believes that structure and order are the stuff that dreams are made of. Happiness can be planned - and it starts with seven rules she's laid out for her future. But as she's organizing her best friend's wedding in Hawaii, all of Vanessa's best-laid plans are about to meet their match in a wickedly hot MMA fighter...

Jackson "Jax" Maris is focused on surfing, training and fighting. That is, until he opens up his big mouth, and finds himself having to pretend he's engaged to his little sister's best friend, Vanessa. When they're force to share a romantic bungalow, however, their little charade suddenly takes a turn for the seriously sexy. And while Jax is definitely not part of Vanessa's long-term plan, he has seven days - and seven naughty nights - to turn her seven-rule plan upside down.

My Review:
This is my second time reading anything from Gina L. Maxwell and the second time I’m completely satisfied with her work. Rules of Entanglement is fun, funny, sexy, touching, exciting and VERY addictive! A definite must read for all fans of the genre.

Vanessa is a beautiful and intelligent woman that does EVERYTHING by the book and follows ALL rules. Especially her own (yes she has her very own set). Well at least it was always until she meets her besties brother and he turns her world upside down and inside out!
Jax is a good looking, independent and successful MMA fighter that finds himself in a situation he himself created (naughty man!) Now he has to figure out how to make it all better and still be able to keep the girl (LOVE this guy!)

I love the way these two get along. Far from perfect. Actually what I like to call perfectly imperfect. The author created us a very entertaining story packed full of loveable characters that many will want to enjoy over and over again. Even though this book is a part of a series. It can be read as I stand alone. I do recommend reading book 1 though. It was/is another great read :)

Lanie Heron isn’t looking for love—no surprise, considering her last serious relationship nearly got her killed. So when Lanie propositions Hop Kincaid, all she wants is one wild night with the hot-as-hell biker who patrols with the Chaos Motorcycle Club...

For Hop, Lanie has always been untouchable. She’s too polished and too classy for his tastes. But when she gives Hop the once-over with her bedroom eyes and offers him a night in paradise, he can’t say no. And he doesn’t regret it when he finds that Lanie is the best thing that’s ever happened to him—in or out of bed. Now the trick will be to convince her of that.

My Review:
I LOVE me some tattooed biker hotties and Fire Inside sure has them! I found myself unable to put my kindle down for very long at all. I lost a bunch of sleep too! Put it this way… I read it in 10 hours. There’s so much within these pages. Excitement, fun, love, friendship, family, sadness, happiness and the very best part… An amazing couple! A definite MUST read for any fans of the genre.

Lanie has been in her own head for over 7 years and with very good reason. Losing your fiancé, violently, using your own body to try and save him and coming close to death. AND having your best friend almost die in the process is a lot for one person to handle. Luckily she has Chaos. A loving, amazing and caring family of MC members that have taken her under their wing.  Lanie has even more than what everyone is aware of keeping her from opening her heart…

Hop has his own story. Not nearly as traumatic as Lanie’s. But it still has left him internally scarred. Being screwed in the most unpleasant way and from the mother of your children (a real bitch at that), did this hot, huge hearted man some harm for any future relationships. So the night he finds the one woman he’s always admired from a distance, but is not his flavor. Moving towards him with a sole purpose set upon her face. He finds himself in a bit of a…situation. One he actually does not mind being in.

A lot of up’s and down’s with these two. Luckily more up’s than down’s. They are an amazing pair and I enjoyed every minute of getting to know them. I look forward to more of this series and by this author in the very near future :)

The heart cares not what society forbids.

Lily nurtures a secret love for a flawless man—the one who is her soul mate. Donovan is gorgeous, charismatic, and delights in all of Lily’s talents and quirks. Their innate knowledge of each other is almost telepathic. Together they interlock like fine threads creating luxurious silk.

But society dictates this picture-perfect adoration is the ghastliest of all possibilities.

As Lily embarks on a quest for the romance the heavens intended, her suitor turns reluctant. Desperate to uncover why Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hiding decayed from a tender-hearted gentleman into a ferociously self-serving, cocky bastard, Lily is prepared for battle when it comes to the salvation of her soul mate. However, Donovan traps Lily in a mental game of chess, leaving her to question his sanity. When Lily’s revelations about Donovan’s destructive alter ego lead to an unconceivable truth, can she help Donovan survive fate’s cruel joke?

Impassioned, witty, and deeply moving, Love’s Forbidden Flower is filled with stunning controversies that will forever haunt your heart.

My Review:

I’m going to start off by saying… I’ve NEVER read anything like Love’s Forbidden Flower, EVER in my reading history! Not only because it’s not my usual reading material, it’s the story line that I’ve never experienced before. Unquestionably original and I can definitely see why it’s considered controversial. It’s not something you would normally read in a love story, but it’s a really good story. Any fan of the genre that’s looking for something different to read and has no objections to two soul mates, fighting for their love and are related to one another, will fully enjoy it.

Lily is a smart, beautiful and creative young woman that is in love, deeply and unconditionally in love. She has a life plan which a part is to make a business for herself doing what she enjoys most and enjoying her life with the one she loves. But when she is rejected, she finds love elsewhere. It’s nothing like what she feels for her soul mate, but close and he has the best accent!

Donovan is Lily’s older brother. He starts off as doing the right thing, going to high school, helping his father live vicariously through him. Only wanting to make his parents happy and proud; all while holding in many deep secrets from both his parents and his sister brings him to a negative point. He has a hard time with it all and loses himself once in a while by taking it out on others he does not care about. All he wants is to have the one thing, the one person he loves and has loved, but it’s forbidden.

Secrets, deceit, twists, love, soul deep emotions and a forbidden relationship all wrapped into one page turning read. This is the first book of a new series and I’m looking forward to seeing where this roller coaster of a relationship ends up. I’m hoping for the best for Lily, Donovan and Christopher :)

Goodreads Blurb: Aura couldn’t imagine her life could get any worse, until she woke up lost in time. She knew what to do in her own time. She even had an idea what she wanted to do with her life. What was she to do lost somewhere in an ancient world? She has no experience with the lifestyle. She can’t speak the language. She has no home. All she has to her name is a few pieces of camping supplies, a few changes of clothing, and a pet snake. She is determined to survive, and find a way back to her own time.

Thorn is the Duke Vernon's right hand man. He is a warlord, respected and feared by all who knows, or has heard of him. He understands only two things. One, you only get what you work for in life. Two, you had to have faith in the things you believe. With all of his heart and soul he believes that one-day he will be sent his soul mate. The one woman created just for him. He has no idea who she will be. He has no idea what she will look like or be like, but she will be his, and his alone.

Can Aura learn to love a man who lived a thousand years before she was born? Can Thorn teach a woman with no faith to believe that they are meant to be together?

My Review:

Aura had me in its grip from the very start! This is my first time reading anything from M.A. Abraham and WILL NOT be my last! She is an excellent story teller! Everything is written with such emotion and vivid detail that you find yourself unable to pull away for even a moment in fear you’ll miss out on what will happen next (yes I know it’s a book, but it is really that terrific!) Mysterious, magical, emotional, exciting, fun and romantic are just some of the elements you will experience while reading this book. A definite must read for any romance fan!

Aura has had a difficult childhood. Not so much a horrific one, but she was not loved or cared for as a child should be. Add to that, falling asleep in one place and waking up in another place (and time) and you have the icing on the proverbial cake! Luckily Aura is an amazingly resilient, smart, witty, brave and beautiful woman that knows no fear (well except for rodents). She is a character that many will fall in love with any many more will look up to.

Thorn is an amazing warrior that puts all other warriors of his time to shame. He carries within himself extreme strength, faith and an alpha aura that projects to others, intimidating them by presence alone. He has the skills to take down many in battle without batting an eye. Yet his heart is huge, he’s warm, caring, loyal, and funny, an all-around an amazing man. A man that many readers will adore and wish they had for their very own :)

It was a bit of a rocky start for these two soul mates, along with a roller coaster ride of emotions that have you at the edge of your seat. We have two people that are meant to be together, forever, and it is all written with such strong emotion you feel all straight through to your bones, your heart and your very soul.
From the start of Aura and Thorn’s first meeting I knew fate was at play and I must say, a magnificent pairing was made when it was decided for these two to be brought together. I will always have the memories of their journey and what it grew to be. This is a book that lingers in the mind; with an addictive quality to it that I am so happy to had the pleasure of reading.

Goodreads Blurb:
Amanda Martin has the worst taste in men. After being cheated on not once, but twice, she’s lost all faith in men … and in herself. Determined to regain her confidence, Amanda decides to have a one-night stand. No relationship, no promises, no threat of being hurt again … just sex. What she doesn’t anticipate is meeting a handsome-as-sin stranger who will give her pleasure unlike any she’s ever known.

Joe Sterling has spent his life avoiding relationships, his former job as a military sniper not allowing for such commitments. Now he’s come home to Texas, to let go of the past and to prove he is more than the killer he’s been trained to be.

When Amanda’s life is threatened, Joe’s killer instinct is tested while Amanda struggles to protect her heart. Will they succumb to their overwhelming desire for each other, or lose it all by letting the past dictate their future?

My Review: A fun, sexy and exciting read that I had a blast reading! I was taken with the family antics, snarky characters and surprises. So much so I could not put it down, for long. A 4.5 out of 5 rating for me. A definite must read for those that are fans of the genre. I feel anyone that reads it will have fun with it (and possibly drool a bit over the hotness).

Amanda is a beautiful and intelligent woman that I liked immediately. She’s one tough cookie that takes no bull from anyone. I believe the fact that she has three (very attractive, wait back on track here…) very protective overbearing brothers helped bring her to be as strong and independent as she is. She’s had a horrible time with men and relationships having been cheated on by boyfriends, twice. Taking some great advice from her best friend, she takes a little trip and ends up running into a yummy morsel of a man named Joe.

Joe… WOW! I love him! He’s really an amazing man, one that a woman’s dreams are made of. The fact that he’s instantly taken with Amanda and has no history of something like that ever happening before with him makes me like him even more. Oh and the dude can cook :)

Amanda and Joe are a perfect match if I've ever seen one. Excellent characters, details and story. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens in the next of the series.

Interview with Joanne Kennedy Author of Cowboy Tough

Romance Book Junkies Interview – Joanne Kennedy, Cowboy Tough

I know you get asked this question over and over but can you tell us a little about yourself? Maybe something juicy. ;)
Joanne: How ‘bout if I just juice up my real biography? Let’s see: After a long career as an international spy, I was forced to flee the Eastern U.S. for the well-known outlaw outpost of Billings, Montana. There, I began work  for The Bookstore Chain Which Shall Not Be Named. I managed to keep my cover there for many years, moving in the dead of night whenever my past caught up with me. Finally, I found myself in Cheyenne, Wyoming—a perfect hideout, since all you have to do is slap a cowboy hat on your head and you blend right in. I’ve been there ever since, posing as a mild-mannered romance novelist. Shhh…don’t tell!

When did you first start writing? Are you a full time author or do you do it on the side?
Joanne: I didn’t start writing until I was 45 and realized that if I put the puzzle pieces of my life together, this was what I was supposed to do. I’d read so much (during all those lonely undercover stake-outs) that the rhythms and conventions of writing came fairly easily, and since I’d worked in the book business so long I had an understanding of what readers are looking for. Now, I’m lucky enough to be a full-time author.

Do you have an author that has really inspired you?
Joanne: I’m really inspired by Carolyn Brown, a dear friend and fellow Sourcebooks writer. When I first started writing for Sourcebooks, I was overwhelmed with all the work that goes into making a book a success. Carolyn came to my rescue. She didn’t just show me how to do it; she showed me how to do it with humor, high energy, and boundless enthusiasm. She is a great example of how hard work, perseverance, and a generous dose of insanity can build a great career.

How long does it normally take you to write an average book or your last book?
Joanne: I normally write two books a year. It takes me about four months to write the first draft, and then two months to edit it. I’m going to be a little slower with the next book, because I had to undergo treatment for breast cancer, which was not fun. But I’m doing fine, and Here Comes Trouble, the first volume in my new series, The Cowboys of Decker Ranch, will be out in April 2014.

What do you think makes a story great?
Joanne: I want to create believable characters readers can relate to. I want your spirit to soar as you watch them struggle and succeed. And when you put down the book, I want you to feel better and stronger—as if anything is possible in your own life.

I also think every book should have an “aha” moment—a point where the events of the story suddenly make sense and everything clicks to give you a new understanding of how the world works.

Can you describe your book Cowboy Tough in one sentence?
Joanne: A talented artist leading  painting expeditions on a Wyoming dude ranch clashes with a cowboy who wants to show her there’s more to life than pretty pictures.

Tell us a little about Cowboy Tough.
Joanne: Mack Boyd, the hero of Cowboy Tough, is one of my favorite cowboys. He’d like to be a footloose rodeo cowboy, but his loyalty to his family calls him back to the home ranch, where he reluctantly helps his mother turn their rough-and-tumble cattle operation into a dude ranch for city tourists.

When he meets the leader of an art expedition into the ranch’s backcountry, she strikes him as all sparkle and no substance. He knows there’s no way a woman like that will fit into his life—so why is he so irresistibly attracted to her?

Have you done lots of research for your books or do the stories just come to you?
Joanne: My life is my research! I mean, I haven’t romanced six different cowboys, or lived the complicated lives of my heroines. But I gather little bits of real life everywhere I go, stashing them away like treasures, and drop them into my books whenever I can.

Cowboy Tough was fun to write because it brought together two of my passions – painting and cowboys! I love art almost as much as I love writing, so the book grew out of my experiences as an amateur artist as well as my experiences with horses and the West.

What are you currently working on?
Joanne: I’m working on the Here Comes Trouble, first book in what is my first series, as all my previous books are stand-alones. It’s called The Cowboys of Decker Ranch, and it’s about three boys who were adopted as foster children by the same rancher. Although he taught them about love and loyalty as well as roping and riding, trust doesn’t come easily to these guys when it comes to women.

Can you tell us about some of your prior achievements?
Joanne: When I look back on my writing career, I’m very proud of the books I’ve produced. To me, you’ve really achieved something when you get a note from a reader saying your book gave them the courage they needed to let love into their lives, or that you carried a woman who’s been married sixty years back to the day she fell in love with her husband. When your stories become part of the fabric of people’s lives—that’s when you’ve accomplished something as a writer.

Is there anything that I didn't cover that you would like to talk about or say to your potential readers?
Joanne: Just thank you, in great big capital letters with cherries on top. I love my work so much, and readers make it possible for me to sit at my computer all day and spill out my fantasy lives—with a lot of help from blogger/reviewers like yourself, who help them wade through the billions of books out there and find the ones that are right for them!

Just for fun:
Hardback or Paperback?
Joanne: Paperback. Books are for reading, so I want the easiest format to hold! But I love having my keepers in hardback.

Dog ears or Bookmarks?
Joanne: Bookmarks. Books deserve respect! But I’ve been known to break the spine on those paperbacks as I get absorbed in the story.

YA novels or Adult novels?
Joanne: Both! That’s what I loved about writing Cowboy Tough—it has teenaged characters as well as grown-ups, and I love seeing the world through their eyes.

Library or Bookstore?
Joanne: Bookstore. Now more than ever, they need our support. But I’m glad libraries are there for those who can’t afford to buy.

Reading glasses or No glasses?
Joanne: No glasses, but I hold the book two inches from my nose.

Snack while reading or No snacks?
Joanne: Snacks.  Not limited to while reading.

Beach or Mountain?
Joanne: Mountain.

Vampire or Werewolf?
Joanne: Werewolf. I like to cuddle.

Hot or Flirty?
Joanne: Can I say hot flirtiness? I think the sexual tension leading up to the main event can be the hottest part!

Movie 1st or Book 1st?
Joanne: Book. Always the book.

Contemporary or Historical?
Joanne: Writing: Contemporary. Reading: Both.

Page-Turner or Tear Jerker?
Joanne: Both! Every book should be a page-turner, so readers can get to the tear-jerking parts:)

Goodreads Blurb: War has taken everything from me. My family. My home. My innocence. In a country blasted by war and wracked by economic hardship, a young orphan girl like me has very few options when it comes to survival. Thus, I do what I must to live, to eat, and I try very hard to not consider the cost to my soul. My heart is empty, and my existence brutal.

The one impossibility in my life is love.

And then I meet HIM.

War is hell. It takes a chunk out of a man's very soul to do the kinds of things war demands of you. You live with fear, you live with guilt, and you live with nightmares. If you haven't been through it, there's no understanding it. War leaves no room for love, no room for tenderness or softness. You gotta be hard, closed off, and ready to fight every moment of every day. Lose focus for a split second, and you're dead.

Now the only thing that can save me is HER.

My Review: A wonderfully written, deeply emotional, gripping and exciting story that is sure to grab any reader’s attention that are a fan of the genre. This story touches very deep into the soul of the characters and the author made sure you feel each and every emotion depicted on the page. A 4.5 rounded to a 5 rating, a definite reread for me.

SHE has had a horrific life. Losing everything thing when she did not have much to begin with. But she is very strong and determined to survive and does what she has to do to live. Even if it means using the only thing she has, her body. No matter how wrong it feels and how much she despises herself afterward.

HE is a strong, brave and warm hearted man that just wants what anyone with a true heart desires, true love. He thinks he has it with his longtime girlfriend, but has many doubts. His instincts are telling him it is love, but not its truest form. It’s difficult for him going to war and holding a relationship, not knowing what's going on when he's gone. Fate definitely has its eyes set on him ;)

I love a story with different points of view and they were perfect in here. You got to actually FEEL and understand where the two main characters where coming from, their thoughts and feelings. I’d love to see more of HIM & HER. There are two very extraordinary people.
