Laura Kaye’s WEST OF WANT Preview & Prizes Event!

Happy WEST OF WANT Preview & Prizes Event, everyone! Today, April 10, was the original release date for Book 2 in my Hearts of the Anemoi series, West of Want. And then some really cool things happened: my publisher, Entangled Publishing, signed a huge deal with the nation’s biggest book distributor, which means for the first time ever, my books will be shelved in brick-and-mortar bookstores. And then, West of Want received a very nice pre-sales estimate by the booksellers and Barnes and Nobles bought it for all their stores nationwide (and it got bought for airports, too—squee!). The only bad news in this whole scenario was this: the release date got pushed back, by three LONG months! LOL So, I thought I’d celebrate the original release date with a preview of the book and a big contest, and give you a small taste to whet your appetite until the actual release date arrives.

"Laura Kaye’s captivating writing and vibrant world-building will have readers hooked on the gods of the Anemoi. WEST OF WANT is steamy, spellbinding, and a must-read for all romance fantasy fans."
~Elisabeth Naughton, author of the Eternal Guardians series

Forty sites are celebrating with me today, and there are different posts at those different sites. To see the whole list of participants, click here. Now, without further ado, here’s the book blurb and one of four different never-before-seen excerpts from the book available for you to enjoy:

WEST OF WANT BLURB:
Betrayal is all he's ever known, but in her, he'll find a love strong enough to be trusted...

When Marcella Raines' twin brother dies, she honors his request to be buried at sea, never expecting the violent storm that swamps her boat. Though she's gravely injured--and still emotionally damaged from her recent divorce--Ella fights to survive.

Zephyros Martius is the Supreme God of the West Wind and Spring, but being the strongest Anemoi hasn't protected him from betrayal and loss. Worse, he's sure his brother Eurus is behind it. When Zeph's heartbreak whips up a storm that shipwrecks a human, his guilt forces him to save her.

Ella is drawn to the vulnerability Zeph hides beneath his otherworldly masculinity and ancient blue eyes. And her honesty, empathy, and unique, calming influence leave Zeph wanting...everything. When Eurus threatens Ella, she and Zeph struggle to let go of the past, defend their future, and embrace what they most want--a love that can be trusted.

WEST OF WANT EXCERPT:
Ella was down the rabbit hole. No doubt about it. A beautiful and presumably gifted man with impossible powers. A miracle healing. Some sort of fraternal feud that had apparently put the crosshairs of a curse on her back.

And the weirdest thing? It all felt real. The oddness was as exhilarating as it was frightening. But she was going with it, for now. After all, he’d eased her pain, healed her injuries, and offered his protection against his own brother—what more would a man have to do to earn her faith? So, she believed Zephyros, believed in him. She just hoped she didn’t live to regret putting her faith in him. But at some point, she had to listen to her gut again, start trusting it.

Not everyone was Craig.

She returned the scissors to the counter, pushed them far from the edge. Everything looked like a mishap waiting to happen, now. She had no idea how someone could make you have bad luck, but something had to explain how she’d tripped and almost fallen, busted her toe, burned herself, and cut her hand, all in the past fifteen minutes.

She whirled on Zeph. “So, will you do this cleansing?”

He studied her face. “Perhaps you would like to hear what it entails first?”

Ella released a shallow breath. “Okay.” She shifted feet. “What do I—”

“You must be in water, and I must bathe you.” Ella gaped. “First in a salt bath, and then I must rinse you off in the shower.”

She scoffed. “Oh, that’s all?”

Book Tour: "Cursing Athena" by Lisa Sanchaz

For Danika, the only thing worse than going commando while wearing a fugly, silver bodysuit, was dealing with her deadbeat, ex-husband James. Catcalls, unwanted groping and lecherous stares weren’t really her cup of tea either, but she’d endure all of it and more if her new job serving cocktails at Masquerade meant ridding herself of his mountain of debt. It was just a job, after all, and what choice did she have with James' creditors breathing down her neck? What she didn't bargain for, however, was falling heels-over-head in lust with a two-hundred-plus pound, shape-shifting immortal from Ancient Greece.
On a mission to take down a parasitic demon, Ty doesn't have time for distraction. Not even when that distraction could prove to be his possible lifemate in the form of sweet, innocent, yet sexy-as-hell Danika. But when the leech he’s hunting goes after the cocktail waitress, all bets are off. Unable to resist her siren call any longer, Ty surrenders himself to Danika, body and soul, treating them both to a night they'll never forget.

Lisa Sanchez is a California cheer mom taxiing her way through life, one car ride at a time.  Along with chauffer, she sports several job titles, including, but not limited to:  author, chef, seamstress, videographer, nurse, enforcer, and general slave to her three daughters.
The first two books in her Hanaford Park series (Eve Of Samhain, Pleasures Untold) are published with Omnific Publishing. The third book, Faythe Reclaimed, is currently on submission. Her erotic suspense, Obsessed was published March 29th 2011 with Loose Id.

Bloody, dismembered bodies never got easier to look at. No matter how many millennia you roamed the earth. Ty stood from the cluster of torn limbs and viscera, disgust coating his stomach. Glass, splintered wood, and torn, blood-soaked paper littered the hardwood floor, every inch of the taupe walls in the small upscale apartment spattered with gore.
“It happened maybe an hour ago. Two at most.” Athena stood from where she knelt, her long, jet-black hair cascading across her black leather jacket like a shiny curtain. “The scorch mark is still fresh.”
Ty stared at the large circular burn mark on the floor and gnashed his teeth. He’d seen enough inter-dimensional landing pads to last him a lifetime—a thousand lifetimes. It was always the same: some hopped up demon, drunk on his own power, would decide he was the exception to the rule and cross over into the mortal realm, usually through a crack between dimensions.
Ty glanced over his shoulder toward the pile of female parts littering the sofa and floor. The underworld visitor had hit pay dirt, landing in the middle of what looked like some sort of book club gathering. Red wine mixed with blood seeped into the oriental throw rug; some type of uptight, crudités appetizer peppered the carpet along with a few well-manicured fingers.
“Great Zeus above…” Ty shook his head. It had been a bloodbath. The poor women never stood a chance.
Demons weren’t permitted out of Tartarus, and for good reason. Hungry for both flesh and innocent souls, they treated the human population like an all-you-can-eat buffet.
This, of course, was where he came in. Leader of The Order of Seven, and a favorite of Athena despite his outward hatred of her, he’d been summoned to the grisly scene just moments before.
Plucked from the bowels of Hades by the goddess herself, Ty and each of his six warrior brothers had been saddled not only with the lovely gift of immortality, but with an inner beast, a fierce mythological creature that would lie dormant within until it came time to battle. Ty’s beast, a Nemean lion, was especially vicious. Three times the size of a normal lion, it sported an enormous jaw that could pulverize steel and claws that could cut through the thickest armor. Even more astonishing was its fur. A deep burnished gold, smooth and thick, it was impervious to mortal weapons, making it virtually indestructible. Unearthly handsome in his mortal form, and blessed with the strength of a thousand men, he was the perfect warrior—cunning, lethal.

Review: "The Vampire Queen's Servant" by Joey W. Hill

"The Vampire Queen's Servant"
Author: Joey W. Hill
Series: Vampire Queen #1
Genre: Erotica, BDSM, Paranormal Romance
Pages: 373

Published: July 3, 2007 by Berkley Trade

Goodreads Blurb:
Paranormal erotica from an award-winning author who stands out in a genre known for its out-of-the-ordinary love play." (Romance Studio)

Lady Elyssa Yamato Amaterasu Wentworth is a centuries-old vampire who's been given a new servant-Jacob, a total alpha male unaccustomed to submitting to any woman's wishes. What really binds Jacob to her are not her sensual midnight hungers, but something far more provocative. It stirs her blood, renews her life, and awakens her soul like only true love can. The passion between Elyssa and Jacob yields something else unexpected-a shared history that reaches back through the centuries and is fated to challenge their destiny like nothing ever will again.

Warning: This story contains violence, bondage, menage, rape and other extreme sexual practices.

My Review:
This book is a very hard one to review for me because I really enjoyed it but there are some very sick things going on in this book that most would find offensive. Of all the books I've read which is MANY this is by far the naughtiest and most shocking I have ever read.
Having said that I'll get on with my review. Lady Elyssa is the vampire queen amongst her people and has earned it well. She is extremely moody and can be outright vicious. She has lived a very long and troubled past at the hands of her dead husband. Though she does soften up a little towards the end she maintains her true nature throughout the whole book. Which I loved about this book because vampires are supposed to be scary and unpredictable monsters. Jacob is a total hottie who has devoted his life to being her servant for the rest of his life in and out of the bedroom, if she'll have him that is. Jacob's only flaw to her is that he's a alpha and has never been submissive before especially in the bedroom which is one of her top requirements. He's been trained by her old servant and is more than perfect in everything else which makes it hard for her to decide whether she should accept him. Deep down Jacob and her old servant think that he is exactly what she needs to recoup some happiness in her life.
This book involves a lot of sex and a struggle of wills down to the last page. If you decide to read this book be prepared to read book two because the ending is going to leave you wanting more.
Joey does a great job of world building as Elyssa introduces Jacob into her world.
I would have to say that this book really shocked me and definitely gets the naughtiest book award in my book. A target audience for this book would be someone who enjoys bondage, S&M, violence, and dark erotic paranormal romance. I would definitely recommend this book as a page turner. Great job, Joey and I will be reading more of your books in the future.

Book Tour: Guest Post with Lori Foster

I am super excited to have Lori Foster on my blog today as part of her book tour doing a guest post about advice for aspiring romance authors. Don't forget to check out her new book at the end and check out the link to all the information about the scavenger hunt taking place.

Lori’s Advice for Aspiring Romance Novelists
I suggest that budding romance writers write what excites them. Avoid the traps of trying to jump on the bandwagon, or emulate a successful author. If it’s not YOU, you won’t enjoy it. If you don’t enjoy it, why would anyone else?
Some writers prefer stand alone books. Some, like me, have characters that take over and show up again and again.  Some like writing sweet romances, and some like super-steamy and explicit. It is such an amazingly personal thing that you can’t, and should never try to, write for anyone but yourself.
I’ve had books that readers hated. Some that readers *really* hated. LOL. But I’m a realist. I know I can’t please all the readers all of the time. When disappointed readers write to me, I apologize. I AM sorry that they spent time on a book they didn’t enjoy. But will I change what I’m doing for them? I can’t.
What works for me is writing what I want, what I enjoy, the way that I want to write it, and the way that works for me. All writers should do the same.
Another tip for new writers – stay away from critique groups. It’s YOUR book, not a book by committee. Just because your critique partner doesn’t like it, just because she thinks it’s awkward, doesn’t mean you need to change it. The only opinions that matter are #1) yours, and #2) the editor’s.  Your critique partner cannot buy your book. All she can really do is point out typos, which is great, discourage you with criticism, which is self-defeating, or bolster you with praise, which may or may not jive with an editor’s opinion.
So avoid it.
Contests can also be a catch 22. Sure, you get immediate feedback and sometimes you get a connection with an editor or agent. But you also get immediate gratification – something you should get after you’ve _finished the book!_ NOT because you’ve written one to three chapters.
I’ve know unpubs who’ve polished that first chapter a dozen times. It’s been submitted in at least that many contests. It’s even placed in a few, or won in some. But the whole book? Why finish a book when you can send just one chapter in to win another contest?
Contests make it so easy to lose sight of the end goal – which is publication.
New writers – keep your eye on that end goal! As soon as you finish a book and get it mailed off, start another. And another.

Book Tour: "Blind to Men" by Chris Lange

Hi all and welcome to lovely Danielle's blog,

My name is Chris Lange and I am a cheeky girl. If you've followed my blog tour so far, you already know BLIND TO MEN is an erotic fantasy story about a young farm girl who has been cursed at birth and can't see men. Protected by the ugliest Amazon she's ever seen, she sets off to the legendary city of Palance. So today, I thought I'd ask myself a few questions.

- Who's my favorite character in the book and why?
I like Anya a lot because I find her funny, which is to say I have a slight tendency to entertain myself. And Kylor? Let's just say I often dream about Kylor the warrior wielding his big sword.

- What would I have done differently if I had been the main character of my book?
Nothing. I am the main character, except maybe during love scenes.

- What was my wildest thought when writing this book?
Somebody get me a sword!

- Did I have any kinky thoughts while writing?
Oh, boy!

- If Kylor showed up at my door one morning, what would I say to him?
"Please, get me on that white horse of yours and take me away!"

I had good laughs when I was writing BLIND TO MEN and I think this particular story will always be one of my favorites.

News and updates can be found on my blog http://chrislangeauthor.wordpress.com

Thank you Danielle for receiving me today, it's been great!
Now my blog tour continues at http://www.thejeepdiva.com where I'll be talking to Vanessa on April 10th. Come along!

Book Spotlight & Giveaway: "Friends with Partial Benefits" by Luke Young

It's Luke's first time on Romance Book Junkies so lets give him a big welcome and lets hear what he has to say about his new book. He is also offering a giveaway to those that are interested.

Title: Friends With Partial Benefits

Author: Luke Young

Description:

The first in a new contemporary romance series, Friends With Partial Benefits is a scorching mix of desire, sex, passion, love and slightly inappropriate comedy.

Jillian Grayson is a disillusioned divorcée and best-selling romance novelist who can't write a chapter without her hunky male heartthrob suffering ED, an STD, or even worse. Brian Nash is a tennis-obsessed, college senior who's unlucky in love and the roommate and best friend of Jillian's son, Rob. When Rob brings Brian home for spring break and he meets the surprisingly young and also tennis passionate Jillian, their shared interest quickly develops into an intense mutual attraction. After nearly giving in to their feelings, they hatch a plan, while under the influence (of something more than just the perfect Miami night), to be Friends With Partial Benefits complete with rules to define the boundaries. Will the lonely pair continue with this distinctive relationship, actually explore their desires or will they discover all of it is a really bad idea?

Kindle Best Selling author Luke Young branches out into contemporary romance with his Friends With…Benefits Series. His laugh out loud novel, Shrinkage is a previous number one best seller in humor. If you're looking for edgy and humorous romance filled with passion, desire and heart, give his books a try.

When he's not writing or working at his full time job, he spends time with his wife, three children and a new rambunctious beagle puppy.

Luke Young offers a free copy of the first book in this series to anyone who wants one. Simply send him an email at lukebyoung@gmail.com and ask for one.

Jillian Grayson sat up in bed typing away on the keyboard of her laptop computer. She wore a nightshirt that wasn’t all that sexy, but what she was typing was—or at least it started out that way…

Dallas lay in bed unable to sleep and wondering if Katrina was suffering the same fate—and for the very same reason. Did she want him as much as he wanted her? Katrina was but a few steps away, yet he dare not go to her for he was a guest, and then there was Katrina’s mother, who was just across the hall. For Dallas sleep came minutes later, but it would be short lived for soon Katrina stood over him completely nude and pondering how to proceed…
Dallas must have been in a deep sleep since he didn’t feel it when Katrina peeled the sheet carefully off him, exposing his muscular body, six-pack abs, and sizeable manhood. She quivered when his impressiveness sprang into view. For a long time she kneeled next to the bed just studying his body and savoring his scent. Katrina took his sex into her hand and worked it until it was rigid while she watched him sleep. When Dallas woke, he looked into her eyes, swallowed hard, and whispered, "I’ve been waiting for you."
Just as fast as his sex expanded, it lost its firmness and flopped against his leg. Katrina looked down at it in disappointment and then moaned in frustration. "What’s wrong?"
Dallas said sheepishly, "Sometimes that happens to me, sorry. Ever since I cheated on my wife with that whore in the pool I haven’t been able to—"

Jillian stopped typing and thought she might be heading in the wrong direction with this. How did her ex-husband get into the story? But then again most men are assholes, she thought.
Jillian picked the glass of wine up off the nightstand, took a long sip, and then replaced it. She highlighted the last paragraph about Dallas’s problem, hit one key, and it was gone. Just like his boner, she thought. Then she laughed out loud. Jillian wasn’t exactly in the correct frame of mind to write right now, especially on this particular subject. She stared straight ahead and wondered about the likelihood of Dallas slipping in the shower, striking his head, and dying instantly or maybe an earthquake could strike and Dallas’s amazingly perfect body would be trapped under a giant beam. What the hell kind of name was Dallas anyway? She thought she might want to give her character a real name like Stewart, but figured no one would believe that a guy named Stewart could give you six consecutive orgasms in one night. What was she doing writing novels about people having amazing sex when she’d never had any? Okay, maybe once or twice twenty years ago, but none since then. She had no right. If people knew that she was the one writing these books, they wouldn’t buy them. She was a fraud. Jillian picked up her wineglass and took another long drink; she grinned, wiped those unhelpful thoughts from her mind, and started typing again…

Katrina took his sex in her hand and worked it until it was rigid. As she studied it closely, Katrina noticed two red bumps on the underside of his pathetic excuse for a penis. She recoiled in horror—

Jillian hit the backspace key to erase everything after Dallas’s "sex" started expanding. She closed the lid on the laptop and tossed it gently onto a pillow at the foot of the bed. Picking up her wineglass, Jillian emptied it with one last sip and then turned on the television.
Romance novels about erectile dysfunction and STDs weren’t exactly big sellers. Jillian Grayson wrote under the pen name of Jaclyn West. She’d written fourteen bestsellers so far and had more money than she needed flowing in, so her next novel could wait. The book royalties had paid for her large, beautiful house in Miami. She still had plenty of money, even after the divorce, which forced her to part with nearly half of her earnings to her bastard ex-husband. She’ll never forget the day she came home early from a book tour and found George performing oral sex on that slut in the pool—the pool she had paid for and an act he would rarely, if ever, do for her. Jillian always thought he hated oral sex or more specifically, he hated the giving part. But there he was, naked, standing in the shallow end of the pool, and going to work on some other woman as she floated in the pool on a ring, which Jillian had also paid for. The pool oral sex thing actually looked like it might be kind of fun, and Jillian often wondered why George had never once tried that on her.
That day when Jillian spotted them from the second floor balcony off their bedroom, she had watched for a little longer than she’d care to admit. Maybe that was because all her erotic romance writing had left her desensitized to sex, at least a little. At first it didn’t seem real; it was as if she was visualizing a scene for a book she was working on—not watching her husband cheat on her.
When she finally came back to earth, Jillian left the house and went to the side of the pool; she snuck up on the adulterous couple and stood there until the woman being serviced noticed that they had an audience. Then the woman tapped George on the shoulder to get his attention. When George turned around, he had a look of guilt on his face that Jillian would never forget. Jillian wouldn’t let the naked woman back in the house to get her clothes. She simply threw the clothes out the door. The woman was forced to get dressed outside and shamefully leave through the back gate. George went into the house, got dressed, and left through the front door; it was the last time he ever set foot inside.
Jillian didn’t cry that day; instead she put on a pair of kitchen gloves and retrieved the ring float from the pool. When her attempts to drain the float of air through the valve seemed to be taking way too long, she stabbed it ten times with scissors. That could possibly have been overkill, but it did the trick and gave her a much-needed outlet for her rage. Jillian called a company to have the pool drained, scrubbed, and refilled at the cost of fifteen hundred dollars. It was worth it, she thought, because she would never have been able to dip a toe in the pool until every last drop of that contaminated water was replaced. She imagined what George had been up to all those times she was traveling; what types of women had he explored in and out of the pool? How long had he been playing away and with how many women? Although, Jillian was out of town quite a bit, she had never suspected anything since George never seemed to be sneaking around nor was he ever evasive about where he was going or what he had planned. Their sex life was never great or very active, but he seemed to be an attentive and loyal husband—at least most of the time.
Once Jillian discovered the infidelity, she wanted to know if George had left her with any other little surprises. Jillian went to her doctor for a complete STD panel of tests and luckily for him, she came back clean. Had George left her with something, Jillian would have cut his balls off or worse.

The Zap App
The next day, she made a few alterations to her application, reversed
a few things, and then waited for Richard to make his morning
appearance. She didn’t have long to wait.

“Good morning,” he said, right behind her ear.

“Good morning, Richard,” said Veronica, then she tapped the button.

Instantly the sound of coffee splashing all over the floor met her
ears, and she turned to see her nemesis staggering backwards until he
crashed into the cubicle wall, which threatened to topple into the
next space over. His eyes were partly  rolled up into his head and he
was moaning and gasping, his twitching body slowly sinking
horizontally onto a filing cabinet. With a grin that was triumphant,
surprised and slightly sadistic, she tapped the button again to see
what would happen when she turned the app off.

A noticeable wet stain at the front of a medium-sized pants tent
caught her attention. Had the poor man wet himself?

“Ohgod,” was all he could manage for at least five minutes as he
recovered. Veronica began to wonder if she should call a medic, and
coworkers started to crowd in her doorway to see what the hell had
happened.

“It’s all right,” she reassured them. “Still working on that epilepsy
app. Must have reversed something.”

“That was... that was...” Richard spit out, trying to regain the gift
of language. “Fucking incredible...”

Confused, Veronica stared at him.

“What?”

“Incredi... mind-blowing. Best orgasm ever...”

Now that, she hadn’t expected. But something about it sounded vaguely
familiar. She turned her back on her human lab rat as the embarrassed
coworkers made themselves useful elsewhere. A quick search on
“epilepsy” and “orgasm” brought up research on the phenomenon known as
the “orgasmic aura,” a state of spontaneous climax that some epilepsy
victims experienced at the onset of a seizure. She could hear Richard
slowly collecting himself behind her.

“Again,” he finally moaned.

“Fuck off.”

“Do it again!” His hand gripped her shoulder and she turned, finding
herself face-to-face with a pair of desperate, lust-filled eyes. His
other hand shot out and gripped her throat. Unable to cry out for
help, she did the only thing she could think of to incapacitate the
madman – she hit the button again.

Goodreads Blurb:
Machines aren’t supposed to feel, but this cyborg can’t help falling in love.

Assigned as a specimen collector for a captured cyborg, Chloe is intrigued by the machine disguised as a man. Kidnapped during his daring escape, he shows her that despite the chip in his brain, his humanity is not completely lost.

Formerly known as unit X109GI, Joe is on a quest to discover his origin. While he doesn’t find the answers he’s looking for, he does discover that affection and lust aren’t just for humans. But when it comes to a battle between logic and love, which side will the cybernetic organism—once a man—choose?

Evaluating his feelings will have to wait though because the military isn’t done with Joe. But their threats against him pale in comparison before the shocking discovery of project C791, the revelation of which stuns the rebel cyborgs—and ignites a fury for vengeance.

Warning: This story contains violence towards the heroine that might offend some readers, but rest assured the hero kicks the offending butts. This is a spicy romance featuring an ultra hot, cyborg male. Reader titillation is advised.

My Review:
Eve has done it again and come out with another awesome story. I wouldn't say it was my favorite of all of her books I've read but definitely an awesome read.
Joe is a cyborg who has been captured by the military on Earth. His only thoughts are for survival until he meets his new nurse Chloe who is absolutely terrified of his kind because of stories she's been told but at this point in her life she's abused, and lonely and the money she can make getting samples from Joe would help set her free. As she gets to know Joe everything she's been told about his kind is put into question and when he escapes and takes her with him she doesn't put up a fight.
This was a fast paced story with lots of action and steamy moments so I read the whole thing in two sittings. Eve always does a great job with world building and this one she slips it right in there without much thought on our part.
I fell in love with all the characters in this book except the bad guys of course. And I promise that I will do everything in my power to get her to write a sequel to this story because I feel like I stopped in the middle of a book and I WANT MORE! lol
I would recommend  this book to sci-fi, erotica and paranormal romance fans. The only warning I have for readers is that there is some violence. Overall a fantastic and did I say HOT book you should pick up and read.

"The Shoppe of Spells" by Shanon Grey

The Gatekeepers Series, Book One
When is a whole more than the sum of its parts? When it has ties to the quaint little town of Ruthorford, Georgia—as Morgan Briscoe discovers when a cryptic message threatens to change her life forever.
Morgan’s relatively normal life is turned on its ear when she learns not only that she is adopted, but her birth parents are dead and she now holds half-interest in a business with their ward, Dorian Drake, who, despite his riveting good looks, can barely conceal his hostility toward his new partner.
Morgan discovers that she is more than she seems and together she and Dorian have the ability to control a portal to another dimension. Unable to contain their growing attraction, Morgan and Dorian dance around their desires and her burgeoning abilities, until danger forces them to face their destiny.

Shanon Grey weaves romance and suspense with threads of the paranormal. THE SHOPPE OF SPELLS is the first in her series, THE GATEKEEPERS, about the quaint town of Ruthorford, Georgia and its very special inhabitants. PENNYROYAL CHRISTMAS ~A Ruthorford Holiday Story~ is out in e-format as well. MEADOW’S KEEP is due to be released this spring. Under contract with Crossroads Publishing House, her books are available in e-format and print at most booksellers.
Shanon spent her life on coasts, both the beautiful Atlantic and the balmy Gulf. Hurricane Katrina taught her the fragility of life and the strength of friendship, family, and starting over.
She just found out that her son salvaged notes and pages of her original novel, Capricorn’s Child, which she thought has been destroyed with everything else. (Ironically, a neighbor found her marriage certificate in a tree.) She plans to resurrect her original novel one day.
She currently lives in Coweta County, Georgia, trading the familiarity of the coast for the lush beauty and wonder of the mountains, where her husband fulfilled her lifelong dream—to live in a cottage in the woods, where inspiration abounds.

Morgan lay motionless, listening, struggling to define what woke her. A faint hum, almost imperceptible, thrummed through her body, battling the very rhythm of her being. There was something familiar about it. Was that hum from a smoke alarm going off in the distance?
The air crackled around her.
She released the breath she’d been holding and opened her eyes. Damp curls clung to her neck as she shifted up on her elbow and scanned the room. Streaks of light spiked beneath the closed bedroom door—the only light penetrating the room’s inky blackness.
Panic seeped into her sleep-fogged brain. Fire! She threw back the covers, felt a slight tingle as something brushed against her leg, and watched a faint violet outline disappear into the darkness. Thank God, her cat was in the room with her. Morgan swung her legs over the edge of the bed, felt the soft carpet under her toes and tried to remember all the rules about fire as she rushed closer to the spikes of light snaking toward her feet.
She reached out and patted at the door with her fingertips. The wood was cool to the touch. Her heart hammered as she watched the sparking light sizzle across her feet. Not hot, exactly…more…electric. Her mouth went dry. She forced her hand around the doorknob and, not getting a shock, turned it and pulled the door toward her.
Blinding white light, like that from a welder’s torch, filled the doorway, forcing her to shield her eyes.
“It’s okay,” a deep voice cajoled, “I’ve got you. Close your eyes and let me guide you.”
Squinting, she looked down and saw a strong hand reach through the light toward her. She eased her hand forward to meet his. As their fingers touched, a sudden flash of violet, followed by a bolt of energy exploded between them, thrusting her backward—into nothingness.
Her arms flailed, her hands grasped, seizing empty space.
Morgan screamed—a soundless howl, as her breath was sucked into the void.
She tumbled backward, plummeting into a black abyss.
With a jolt, she sat up in bed, drenched in sweat.

April's Monthly Book Giveaway: "Under a Vampire Moon" by Lynsay Sands

Monthly Giveaways at Romance Book Junkies

It's that time, for my monthly book giveaway. I choose a book that comes out in April and looks like a great read. If Lynsay Sands stands up to her reputation it should be just that, a great read. So here it is:
 Goodreads Blurb:
Christian Notte's story, the sixteenth book in the Argeneau series is set on an island paradise called St. Lucia. After a bad relationship and an even worse divorce, Carolyn decides to go on a long overdue and much needed vacation with the 'girls'. Only the rest of the vacationers didn't get the memo. Around every corner there seems to be another couple celebrating their honeymoon or anniversary and the few single men she does see are far too young to even consider, including an irresistibly attractive rock violinist she meets. It's really too bad he's so young but in the end it doesn't matter because according to his cousin, Giacinta, women in general aren't Christian's type. But there's a catch, Christian needs Carolyn's help. He needs her to be his beard (to play the part of his fake girlfriend) for the week to appease his 'machismo' family. Carolyn just can't seem to say No and decides to help Gia's cousin. The only problem is that being around Christian and acting like they are a loving couple is wreaking havoc on her emotions. Carolyn's thoughts keep drifting back to places they shouldn't, like kissing his full lips or feeling his broad shoulders under her fingertips... good lord, she's in trouble.

As most of you know I reserve the monthly book giveaways for my followers so if you would like to enter just follow me in some way. Then all you have to do is fill out the Rafflecopter below.
