Beautiful and talented Catherine Kelly is starting over as a food photographer in Chicago. With her painful past buried over 2000 miles away, she’s focused on her career and is hungry for little else. Until she meets a wealthy bachelor with arresting blue-grey eyes filled with enough tragedy to match her own. William Lambourne is a gourmand who takes great pleasure in food and in women. He’s rich, powerful, and gorgeous -- and as talented in the kitchen as he is in the bedroom. From the moment they meet, William is determined to discover the perfect recipe to unlock Cat’s resolve, awaken her senses, and make her his own. He urges Catherine to step out from behind her camera and fully taste all that life has to offer, stirring an appetite in her she never knew she possessed - and it’s one only he can satisfy. As Catherine begins to fall for the stormy-eyed billionaire, she knows she must reveal her own dark secrets. But first, William must win Cat’s heart to ensure their pasts don’t undo them.

Book 1 in The Epicurean series, A Taste of You will leave you ravenous for more of Cat and William’s story!

My Review:

A deeply touching sensual erotic romance that is sure to both keep you on your toes and cause them to curl. Any erotic romance reader out there will find themselves drawn into the pages of this story like a moth to a flame.
Catherine is a widow who has yet to really move on in life and allow herself to really feel…anything. That’s until the day she (awkwardly) meets William. She finds herself torn with want and guilt and is unsure how to deal with it at all. But she cannot resist his alpha ways, charm and good looks.

William has his own story. It’s very different from Catherine’s, yet alike in some ways. He’s a very successful, handsome and wealthy man that has odd ways about him. He tends to constantly run hot and cold and has some secrets he keeps guarded. I honestly had a love/hate relationship with him throughout the story that (for those curious) ended with me loving him. Many of his ways come to either a complete halt or are changed drastically the day he sets his eyes on Catherine.

There was a bit of a roller coaster ride for a time, but a very fun one. I look forward to reading more from Sorcha Grace and am excited to see where she plans to go with the next in the series.

Merci Tramaine is not happy to be called back into service by her old boss Arthur, especially when she is charged to find her missing ex-lover. Drake Monroe is Merlin reincarnated. With his powers bound by the Goddess Nimue, he has become a skilled fighter, but is no match for Nimue who kidnapped him, determined to destroy him forever.

The bloodline of Morgan Le Fey taints Merci, keeping her on the edge between light and dark. The goddess’s wicked trap springs shut, leaving both Drake and Merci racing against the clock. Passions ignite once again, but are they too late to plan a future or will they be torn from each other?
This time for eternity.

My Review:

I LOVE the concept of a modern day Arthur and his knights (I’ve always had a secret crush on him, shhh). This is a great start to a series that is magical, sensual, exciting and an all-around great story that any fans of the genre will enjoy!

Merci is a beautiful woman that’s also tough as nails. Caught between light and dark due to her heritage. She does not want anyone to know about the darkness within her. Including the man she loves. The only man for her in this life and the next.

Drake is one hot knight! He’s another one that is as tough as tough can be. He comes off a cold, a bit cruel and unfeeling… But I feel he has the right to. After all, he’s the reincarnation of Merlin and his powers have been bound for a long time. That’s a form of torture, undeserving at that. All because of an evil malicious female that (in my eyes) just has nothing better to do. He loves a woman, a very special woman, but is afraid to get too close to her because of the evil wench always at his back. Can love conquer all in this case or is it never meant to be for these two tortured souls?

Beloved Wizard is a quick short read that leaves the reader wanting more in the very best of ways. I look forward to what’s to come in the rest of the series and to so much more of Arthur and his knights ;)

Arthur and his Knights are back and ready to kick ass!

What’s worse than a pissed off Knight? Colin Hennessy.
A war is brewing which suits Colin just fine. Shape shifter, Knight and quick tempered Irishman is a volatile combination. Colin remembers vividly his past life as Sir Kay and with it all that he loved and lost.
Juliet Boyd moves among societies rich and pampered, but she holds within her a terrible secret. One Vance Hollister is determined to exploit. Mordred is back in a new skin. Evil has a new name and Vance Hollister plans on bringing the war onto a new battlefield.
Colin and Juliet are unprepared for the flare of attraction that ignites between them from across a moonlit parking lot. Dare she open herself and expose her cursed gift? Can he save Juliet from Vance’s twisted manipulations? Or will he lose his second chance at love? A showdown between good and evil is coming to a head with Juliet and Colin right in the middle.

My Review:

A great addition to the Knights of Excalibur series! The Knights Druid keeps your heart at a constant fast pace with all of its action, sex (M/M, M/F/M and a little M/M action) and excitement. A definite must read for any fans of the genre!
Colin is one hard man to read! He’s an Irishman that is tough and takes nothing from NO ONE! Very short tempered, but has a huge heart. His past has scarred him deep, soul deep. Love lost and missed is just a part of what has made him into the cold person he is today. But Juliet does something to him. Something he is unsure if he should explore any further…
Juliet is a beautiful and VERY wealthy woman that has much more to her than even she is aware of. Not looking for attraction or love. She tries to ignore the feelings this cold Irishman brings forth. But no one can escape what fate has planned.
Oh how I enjoy this series! So far each couple that has gotten together has been an incredible match. There are two that I find myself REALLY wanting the story for. But I’ll just keep that to myself and hope, for now. I look forward to what Shannan will bring us in the next of the series. Bring on them sexy knights :)

Arthur Penner is more than happy to aid a lady in need of help, especially if the woman is targeted by his nemesis Vance Hollister. The fact the lady in question turns out to be not only a powerful witch, but a gorgeous red head with a wealth of curves that don’t quit? Even better.
What he isn’t prepared for is the discovery that the woman just happens to be his reincarnated Queen Gwenivere, and worse, she has no memory of who he is.

His well-ordered life is crumbling around him as yet another surprise turns up in the form of his reincarnated sister. It seems the past is swallowing him whole, forcing him to let go of previous betrayals and trust once more.

Gwen McAllister finds herself between a rock and a hard spot. Drawn to the quiet strength and confidence of Arthur. It isn’t until her memories are savagely restored by a vengeful goddess that she realizes who she is and the bitter betrayal she caused. Even her familiar, a mouthy Himalayan named Salt seems to be against her, demanding she trust the very man she destroyed.

A new threat is rising, one which will plunge the world they know into darkness. To defeat an old enemy they must depend on each other and learn to forgive. A tall order and time is running out. Can they let go of the past and embrace the promise of a future or will they lose everything in the ultimate battle between good and evil?

My Review:

Shannan Albright creates an exciting, original and erotic modern tale of King Arthur and his knights that has an awesome kick to it and is a real page turner. Each and every character was amazing, realistic and loveable. This is the third book in the Knights of Excalibur series and can be read as a stand-alone. But I REALLY recommend reading them all. It’s a fun series for all fans of the genre :)

Gwen and Arthur are fated to be together, forever. But deceit and neglect brings it all to a halt and changes various aspects and feelings for all involved. Packed full of action, intense sex (M/M, M/M/F and M/F) scenes and tons of fantastical magic and an ending that leaves you wanting much more!

I look forward to more of this series and MUCH more from its author.

Party girl Marianna Coltari is an unmated pureblood Amoveo who wants nothing to do with the ongoing war that took her father’s life and continues to consume her brother, Dante’s. But when she is targeted by one of the clans, she has little choice but to run and hide in a cabin with Pete Castro, a retired cop from her brother’s security firm. There, Pete and Marianna explore an intensifying attraction between them until danger is at the door and there’s no escape.

My Review:
This is my second time reading anything from Sarah Humphreys and WILL NOT be my last! Undone is a very exciting, original and sensual paranormal romance that allows the reader a great escape into its pages. A definite must read for all fans of the genre!

Marianna is very close to a time. Close to the age that if she does not find her mate she’ll lose all that makes her an amoveo and just be. It’s the last thing she wants, fears it actually. But there’s nothing that can be done unless her mate was to miraculously walk into her life. Only that will save her.

Pete is just an ordinary, everyday, average (very HOT) human that just so happens to work for and with paranormals every day. He is an extraordinary man with secrets that he has no choice but to keep and comes to find out. He’s not the only one keeping them. He also finds out how it feels to fall. In love that is. Hard and fast!

Together these two are like the perfect blend of sugar and spice. A mix that makes them complete, perfect and meant to be. A match all readers will wish the very best and crave more of. This is the fourth book in the Amoveo series, but is definitely able to be read as a stand-alone.  I look forward to what Sarah brings us in the next of the series J

Erotica Romance ~ Light BDSM ~ Rubenesque / BBW ~ Regency
Historical ~ May-Dec ~ Novel Length, approx. 85,000 words.

Leagues apart in society, they can have only one possible future, that of protector and mistress...

Jeanne Darling spent her adolescence coping with her father's increasing illness and insanity. Left alone by his death and plunged into poverty, she did what she had to do to survive. Now still reeling from the overwhelming physical and emotional demands her father's care required, she values her peace above all. She doesn't need anyone or anything except her writing and the safety of her rented garret chamber. She's about to rise above her past and create financial independence for herself. What she absolutely does not need is the mysterious and possibly insane stranger who walks into the coffee shop and into her life.

David Somerville, the Duke of Hartley, has known pain and betrayal from the people closest to him. Born to privilege, power and wealth, and filled with idealistic vision for humane change, he gives all of himself to his political career. He keeps his life circumspectly under control. But one day, all the carefully arranged threads of his life unravel and his life intersects with Jeanne's in a way that challenges his view of everything he thinks he knows.

Leagues apart in society, they can have only one possible future, that of protector and mistress. And neither wants to risk deeper connection. However, their overwhelming attraction and resulting sexual games provide them with pleasures neither of them has ever known. Will their sensual journey lead them to discover a more emotionally profound side to domination and submission? Or will their seemingly insurmountable differences and passionate personal goals drive them apart?

Reader Warning: HER MYSTERY DUKE is a work of historical erotic romance. It is not meant to be a guide to or an accurate portrayal of modern BDSM lifestyles or practices. This story contains graphic descriptions of sexual acts and frank sexual language. It also contains light bondage, anal play, sexual toys, cunnilingus, fellatio, masturbation, voyeurism and spanking. Please be aware, there are no scenes of ménage or sexual sharing in this story.

My Review:
A very entertaining, surprising, touching and addictive erotic historical romance that even readers that do not enjoy the historical genre much, or even at all will fully enjoy! Especially with the perfect touch of BDSM that Natasha has wound in the pages. Erotic indeed!

Jeanna is a very independent woman. She had to be due to her father’s illness. She writes (among other things) to live and survive. She’s been alone and fine with it for quite a while. That is until the day she meets a mysterious stranger that thinks she is another and shows her things she finds her body yearns for.
David is a handsome, intelligent Duke that luckily was in the right place at a very needy time and happy beyond words with his savior. There are quite a few things going on in his life that prevents him from taking on a woman full time or even considering marriage. But for some odd reason, he cannot picture his life without Jeanna in it. The question is, how?

Together there is a passion ignited like no other and an amazing completion that is felt throughout the pages. As well as an ending that will leave you with the very happiest of tears. I LOVE Natasha’s writing! So vivid and exciting it keeps you turning the pages until, before you know it. It’s the end and you’re left wanting more in the very best of ways ;)

Elaine Hawthorn is a gray American werewolf, currently out of work, and on a mission to share in a family treasure. When she arrives in Scotland, she nearly has a head-on collision with one hot, kilt-garbed Highlander, and runs him off the road.

Werewolf laird Cearnach MacNeill isn't happy Elaine ruined his car, but he quickly becomes her protector after a misunderstanding lands her right in the middle of two feuding clans. Now he's out to ensure that this sexy female wolf gets her fair share of her clan's treasure. He knows he should leave well enough alone, but it's too late to leave his heart out of it.

My Review:
I had so much fun with this story and absolutely fell in love with Cearmach! Highland Were Wolf Wedding is a story ANY fans of the genre will have a great escape with. Even though it’s part of a series, I was able to read it and understand everything that was going on. So it definitely can be read as a stand-alone (for those out there that are curious).

Elaine is an intelligent, beautiful independent wolf that has return to Scotland after many years of steering clear only to find a male of her past and lots of trouble. All she wanted was to find what her uncles have hidden many years ago and get on with her life. What she gets from there. Well, let’s just say it’s a lot more than she bargained for!

Cearnach, being the loyal friend he is follows through with his promise to attend his friend’s wedding. Many warning for him not to attend, listened to, but ignored. He ends up almost running off the road and RUNNING into someone from his past. A female that haunted his heart and dreams for some time. Now what’s he going to do about it? Especially since this beauty is a relative to an enemy clan.

Fun! Yes, fun! There is such chemistry between the two main characters and Cearnach is such an amazing character that he alone keeps the reader on their toes with his thoughts and actions. That’s not to say the rest of the characters are not just as fantastic. It just so happens I may have a teeny crush on the alpha wolf (*wink). This is the second book I’ve ever read by Terry Spear and definitely not my last. I LOVE her writing style and the way she brings the pages to life!

How much is too much to love?
Travis Maddox learned two things from his mother before she died: Love hard. Fight harder.

In Walking Disaster, the life of Travis is full of fast women, underground gambling, and violence. Just when he thought he was invincible, Abby Abernathy brings him to his knees.

Every story has two sides. In Jamie McGuire's New York Times bestseller Beautiful Disaster Abby had her say. Now it's time to see the story through Travis's eyes.

My Review:
Not at all the direction thought the author would take this being the second book. But it’s still a great read! Walking Disaster is just as addictive, emotional, fun and touching as book 1 of the series. A definite must read for all fans of the genre.

We are getting Travis’ take on it all here. That handsome kick butt guy that had us all drooling in book 1 from start to finish. He’s even greater than we all originally thought and still had me drooling (sigh). We get to learn more about Travis than I would of thought possible. His background, many of the “whys” and his true feelings toward Pidge (love that nickname).

I REALLY wish Jamie would have continued from where Beautiful Disaster left off. I was looking forward to it actually. I’ll just have to wait for the next one like everyone else. This book can definitely be read as a stand-alone if one desired to do so. But I strongly discourage it. I suggest reading book 1 as well so you can get the intense feelings portrayed by both characters in each book. Oh and what an amazing HEA! That’s all I shall say. Ok and one more thing… You’re going to LOVE it :)

I’ve come to realize how much life can change with circumstance. One moment I was a happy sixteen year old girl with a great brother, Jesse, who I adored.
Then Jesse died.
No matter how much I wished it had been me in the accident, wishing will never change what happened. Five years later, my father’s eyes are still filled with hate and regret whenever he looks at me. I haven’t forgotten my mistake, but I’ve accepted it.
My father has not.
He may always see me as a failure, but I’m determined to make a fresh start in a new town where love promises to be more generous than the scorn I've left in my father's eyes. With any luck, maybe some distance will make him see me as his daughter again. Until then I’ll find my own way.
It’s what Jesse would want.

Painted Memories is an original, contemporary romance about love, loss, and recovering from tragedy. Its characters are real. Between humor and heartbreak, it’s funny, touching, and full of redemption.

Sexual situations - recommended for 17+

A very emotional, sweet, romantic, fun, satisfying and gripping read that I definitely will be reading again. A must read for any contemporary romance fans out there, or those readers just looking for an all-around great story.

Lilly has just started her life anew after years of suffering and torment due to the loss of her only brother. So much sorrow, pain, and not enough forgiveness, both from herself and her father. But Lilly picks herself up and leaves that life behind, well most of it. She starts a new job that she loves, gets her own place and stars dating and living again.
A bit of a love triangle for some part (among Lilly, a great looking personal trainer named Tyler and a handsome, caring and amazing artist named Drew) and many life altering choices, but Lilly is a smart and beautiful woman. One that went with her heart and what’s on the inside instead of what the eyes can see. I adored her character even more for it.

Loni created an amazing story for us all. A very emotional trip with realistic characters, settings and packed it full of emotion that will guarantee the need for a tissue (or two) both from laughter and of sadness. This is my second time reading her work and I was a happy reader each time :)

Dagney Night, a sought-after succubus, is no stranger to blazing hot sex. But as Valentine’s Day approaches, she longs for something more. When oddly erotic paintings arrive for display at her art gallery, arousing everyone who views them, she wonders about the mysterious artist who created the works.

Maxwell Raines, a fire-sex demon, lives a life of solitude and seclusion behind the walls of his compound at Sleepy Hollow, channeling his lustful impulses into his art—until his muse deserts him and his temperature rises past the danger point. He needs sex. Now.

When Madame Evangeline arranges a torrid Valentine’s 1Night Stand for them, will the flames of their encounter be too hot to handle?

I’ve read all three of the Sleepy Hollow series by Taryn Kincaid at this point and each one is a short, satisfying and sexy read that holds an original paranormal factor while keeping one element the same. They are each based on Madame Evangeline’s 1NS and each one is just as enjoyable and creative as the last. Any reader out there that enjoys a short, quick and satisfying paranormal romance will have a great time reading Frost.

Dagney is a succubus, a very lonely one that no longer finds fulfillment with any of her partners. She’s unhappy, lonely and far from satisfied. When she finds out who the new artist appearing in her gallery is and the affects his art has on people, she MUST meet him. But will her show up and if he does, will he like what he sees?

Maxwell is a genius! His art is what we would look at and say “it speaks a thousand words”. He is normally able to vent and release through his art, but finds himself coming up short lately and on the brink of combustion. He needs to find someone that can satisfy him and handle his… abnormalities without injury. Is it possible?

Madam Eve is the ultimate matchmaker and I’m hoping that someday we will all get to “meet” her in person :)

Duty, Respect and Honor thy Family ...

As the only child of notorious mob boss, Tony “The Chief” Azzari, Antonietta lives her life by this mantra. Toni never questions the world where decisions are made for her, until she meets Harley-Davidson riding bad boy, Braxton Malone. Ever since their fiery first kiss all those years ago, she can’t deny the desire to submit to his control.

Brax always knew he’d be walking a dangerous tightrope if he fell for Toni, but like a moth to a flame, he couldn't stay away. Barely surviving the wrath of the mob within an inch of his life, a scorned Brax has vowed never again to allow a woman under his skin.

Three years later, Brax is a top Dom at The Satin Rose Experience, New York’s posh BDSM club. When Toni shows up to fulfill her fantasy of submission before being forced into a loveless marriage, that vow is in just as much jeopardy as his life. Can they overcome the crimes of passion from their past and change Toni’s fate forever?

This is definitely my favorite of the Satin Rose Experience series so far! It’s a satisfying, emotional, sensual and romantic quickie read that would not allow me to put it down for even one second! Any fan of the genre will enjoy the sensual escape they get while reading The Submission of a Mafia Princess.
Toni is the daughter of a well-known mob boss and is very sheltered by him which makes her a touch shy, not very confident about herself (mainly her body) and unfamiliar with the male gender on an intimate level. Yet she is very beautiful and smart. She does not have much social experience either so when she sees a guy that REALLY interests her one fine day, she continuously sneaks peeks with hopes no one, including the hottie himself, will catch her. Things change from the day he does catch her looking and it all begins from there.
Brax is one hottie McHotness. The man screams DOM right from the start. He’s a very confident, handsome, intelligent and caring man who is also a dominant. From the moment he sets eyes on the beautiful Toni, he knows he is in trouble in many ways. Besides his heart, there’s his life. How would her father react to a regular guy like him in his daughter’s life? Brax is willing to take the chance; he cannot get her out of his mind, or his heart. (I heart Brax!)
Even though this is part of a series, Sandra wrote it so wonderfully that it can be read as a stand-alone. But I really recommend starting from book 1 of the series. You see characters from the start all throughout the series and it give us a constant peek at their progress and how much they have grown in character and in their lives. Awesome :)

Book Spotlight & Excerpt: "If I Were You" by Lisa Renee Jones

Former CEO and business owner of LRJ Staffing, an Austin based staffing agency frequently receiving accolades across the state, left behind the corporate world to write romance. LRJ Staffing had offices in Austin, Dallas, Temple, Waco, San Antonio, and Nashville.

Back in September it was announced that New York Times and USA Today Bestselling author Lisa Renee Jones sold her indie erotic series THE INSIDE OUT TRILOGY in a major deal to by Simon and Schuster.(Louise Fury, L.Perkins Agency) Since then the highly acclaimed series has sold to ten foreign countries, with more under negotiation, and now it’s been optioned by STARZ for television (Shari Smiley, Resolution.) The project is moving forward quickly, with Suzanne Todd (Alice in Wonderland) producing.

Inspired by a real journal found in a storage unit during Lisa's eight years buying and selling units, the series embraces the dark sensuality of Shades of Grey and the intrigue with storage units that is Storage Wars in one spine tingling series packed with mystery and passion. The print version of IF I WERE YOU, book 1, hits stores March 12th.

Goodreads Blurb:
When Sara McMillan finds a stack of journals in a storage unit, she’s shocked and enthralled by the erotic life the writer led. Unable to stop reading, she vicariously lives out dark fantasies through Rebecca, the writer—until the terrifying final entry.

Certain something sinister has happened, Sara sets out to discover the facts, immersing herself in Rebecca’s life. Soon she’s working at the art gallery Rebecca worked at and meeting Rebecca’s friends. Finding herself drawn to two dangerously sexy men, the manager of the gallery and a famed artist, Sara realizes she’s going down the same path Rebecca took. But with the promise of her dark needs being met by a man with confident good looks and a desire for control, she’s not sure anything else matters. Just the burn for more.

If I Were You by Lisa Renee Jones

Fifty Shades of Grey meets Basic Instinct

It all began when my neighbor thrust a key to a storage unit at me. She’d bought it to make extra money after watching some storage auction show. Now she was on her way to the airport to elope with a man she barely knew, and she needed me to clear out the unit before the lease expires.

Soon, I was standing inside a small room that held the intimate details of another woman’s life, feeling uncomfortable, as if I was invading her privacy. Driven to find out by some unnamed force, I began to dig, to discover this woman’s life, and yes, read her journals—-dark, erotic journals that I had no business reading. Once I started, I couldn’t stop. I read on obsessively, living out fantasies through her words that I’d never dare experience on my own. I read onward until the last terrifying dark entry left me certain that something had happened to this woman. I had to find her and be sure she was okay.

The dark, passion it becomes…

Now, I am working at a prestigious gallery she’d worked at, where I have always dreamed of being, and I’ve been delivered to the doorstep of...him. He is rich and famous, and dark in ways I shouldn’t find intriguing, but I do. I don’t understand why his dark side appeals to me, but the attraction between us is rich with velvety promises of satisfaction. He is damaged beneath his confident good looks and need for control, and in some way, I feel he needs me. I need him.

All I know for certain is that he knows me like I don’t even know me, and he says I know him. Still, I keep asking myself — do I know him? Did he know her, the journal writer, and where is she? And why doesn’t it seem to matter anymore? There is just him and me, and the burn for more.

THE FIRST JOURNAL ENTRY THAT CAPTIVATED ME AND STARTED IT ALL

Sunday, March 7th, 2012

Dangerous.

For months I’ve had dreams and nightmares about how perfectly he personifies the word. Sleep-laden, alternate realities where I can vividly smell his musky male scent, feel his hard body against mine. Taste the sweet and sensuous flavor of him-–like milk chocolate with its silky demand that I indulge in one more bite. And another. So good I’d forgotten there’s a price for overindulgence. And there is a price. There is always a price. I was reminded of this life lesson on Saturday night. And I know now, no matter what he says, no matter what he does, I cannot--will not--see him again.
It started out as any other erotic adventure with him. Unpredictable. Exciting. I barely remember where it all went wrong. How it took such a dark turn.
He’d ordered me to undress and sit on the mattress, against the headboard, my legs spread wide for his viewing. Naked before him, open to him, I was vulnerable and quivering with need. Never in my life had I taken orders from a man; most certainly I had never thought I would quiver with anything. But I did for him.
If Saturday night proved anything, it was that once I was with him, under his spell, he could demand anything of me, and I’d comply. He could push me to the edge, to unbelievable places I’d never thought I would go. Exactly why I can’t see him again. He makes me feel possessed, and what is so disconcerting about this feeling is that I like it. I can hardly wrap my mind around allowing such a thing, though I burn for it. But when I saw him standing at the end of the bed Saturday night, all broad and thick with sinewy muscle, his cock jutting forward, there was nothing but that need.
He was magnificent. Really, truly the most gorgeous man I’ve ever known. Instant lust exploded inside me. I wanted to feel him close to me, to feel him touch me. To touch him. But I know now not to touch him without his permission. And I know not to beg him to let me.
I’ve learned my lesson from past encounters. He enjoys the vulnerability of a plea far too much. Enjoys withholding his pleasures, until I am nearly quaking with the burn of my body. Until I am liquid heat and tears. He likes that power over me. He likes full control. I should hate him. Sometimes, I think I love him.
It was the blindfold that should have warned me I was headed toward a place of no return. Thinking back, I believe it did. He tossed it on the bed, a dare, and instantly a shiver chased a path up and down my spine. The idea of not being able to see what was happening to me should have aroused me-–it did arouse me. But for reasons I didn’t understand at the time, it also frightened me. I was scared and I hesitated.
This did not please him. He told me so, in that deep, rich, baritone voice that makes me quiver uncontrollably. The need to please him had been so compelling. I put on the blindfold.
I was rewarded by the shift of the mattress. He was coming to me. Soon, I knew I would come, too. His hands slid possessively up my calves, over my thighs. And damn him, stopped just before my place of need.
What came next was a shadowy whirlwind of sensation. He pulled me onto my back, flat against the mattress. I knew satisfaction was seconds away. Soon he would enter me. Soon I would have what I needed. But to my distress, he moved away.
It was then that I was sure I’d heard the click of a lock. It jolted me to a sitting position, and I called out his name, fearful he was leaving. Certain that I’d done something wrong. Then relieved when his hand flattened on my stomach. I’d imagined the sound of the lock. I must have. But I couldn’t shake the subtle shift in the air then, the raw lust and menace consuming the room that didn’t feel like him. It was a thought easily forgotten when he settled heavy between my thighs, his strong hands lifting my arms over my head, his breath warm on my neck--his body heavy, perfect.
Somehow, a silk tie wrapped around my wrists and my arms were tied to the bed frame. It never occurred to me that he could not have done this on his own. That he was on top of me, unable to manipulate my arms. But then, he was manipulating my body, my mind, and I was his willing victim.
He lifted his body from mine, and I whimpered, unable to reach for him. Again silence. And the whisk of fabric. More strange sounds. Long seconds ticked by, and I remember the chill that snaked across my skin. The feeling of dread that had balled in my stomach.
And then, the moment I know I will die remembering. The moment when the steel of a blade touched my lips. The moment that he promised there was pleasure in pain. The moment when the blade traveled along my skin with the proof he would be true to his words. And I knew then that I had been wrong. He was not dangerous. Nor was he chocolate. He was lethal, a drug, and I feared…
