Author's Blurb:
Morrigan McNab learned to survive with a sword in her hand. Taking
command, she is determined to protect her impoverished clan, no matter
the cost. When an elusive French knight offers gold to fight against
England, she joins the call to arms. Sparks fly on the battlefield
as a forbidden passion smolders between Morrigan and Sir Dragonet.
Yet Sir Dragonet holds a secret that will destroy the hope for a life
together, and will make them rivals on a dangerous quest for a
mysterious relic. As they fight beside each other against the
English, and against each other to find the treasure, their love
becomes a greater force than either can control.
My Review:
This is the 3rd book in this series but can be read as a stand alone. To get a better understanding of the characters it is recommended that you read the other books in the series though.
Morrigan McNab is a woman so devoted to her clan that she dresses as a man and raids travelers just to make sure they are fed. She is a very stubborn and brave heroine that eventually learns the benefits of dressing and playing the part of a lady by the end of the book. Jacques Dragonet is many things but some include a spy, knight and a monk. He is on an errand to find a relic for his father and the church but finds himself involved in much more on the way including war and love that is forbidden. Morrigan and Jacques have many obstacles in their way when it comes to their romantic development throughout the book number one being that he is a monk and has sworn to celibacy but their attraction is undeniable.
This story is action packed from beginning to end that I found to be very exciting and a page turner. During the 2nd book in the series I didn't like Morrigan's character very much but during this story I just fell in love with her character and came to realize why she has her faults and found some to be misunderstandings. I felt a sense of longing and frustration for this couple and it seems impossible for them to ever really be together if just in friendship.
I have no warnings about this book except that there is some violence. So I would recommend it to historical romance fans especially highland romance fans. This was definitely another great read by Amanda Forester.

Great review and recommendation on a series and author that is new to me. I love historical romances, but don't read nearly enough highland ones, so I am excited to give this one a try! Thanks for the giveaway!

Thanks for the great review. Since Scottish Highlanders are my favorite reads and I've enjoyed the first 2 books in this series I can't wait to read True Highland Spirit. Thanks for the chance.

Can't deny a man in a kilt!
It shows an authors talent to make you like a character you didn't before. Morrigan seems like she has a very strong personality, but to be a match with Dragonet it seems like she needs to be. Nice review!
And thanks for sharing your copy

I read the arc too, and I completely agree with your review. After reading book 2, I couldn't believe that Morrigan would have her own story, but as it turns out, I liked it a lot. Great review! Book Savvy Babe
I'm always interested in a Highlander book, and having the heroine yielding the sword sets this one apart.

This sounds like a great book! I haven't read the other books so I'm really glad that it can be read as a stand alone! Of course, if it's as great as you say, I'm sure I'm going to go back and read the first two books in the series:)
