Goodreads Blurb:
A woman he cannot have, a man who is only a dream

When guardian Marcus Dagotto, discovers the gods have gifted him with a mate, he is pissed. He has no room for love and even less for a human who has no idea he exists.

Cassandra Jensen, has a shattered heart and has given up on men. Only one man can set her body on fire, but he is a fantasy that haunts her sleep.
Two worlds, one desire. When the two collide, fate will rip them apart and test their resolve. Will darkness and evil prevail? Or, will love conquer all?

In the prologue and first few chapters, the author introduces various characters in the midst of a battle and I found it a little difficult to absorb it all. We’re introduced to the Guardians of Humanity: Aidyn – their prince, Marcus – a healer and Aidyn’s best friend/guardian, Queen Daria – Aidyn’s mother, Zarek – the supreme god, Drayos – a demon who cursed the Guardians, Baal, Lucan, Garin, Kothar demons, The Chosen….and you get the idea.  It’s a lot to take in but so worth it.

The Guardians were created with both darkness (warrior) and light (guardian) to protect the human race.  They are cursed by the demon, Drayos, to eventual darkened souls that will make them evil – killing all in their path.  Drayos is also responsible for the loss of many of their female population as he implants demon spawns in their wombs and darkens their souls – for which there is no cure. This leaves the Guardians with the daunting task of cutting off the heads of their spouses, sisters, friends, and mothers to keep this evil from spreading, as well as a diminishes their female population.

Cassandra Jensen is a human nurse who has been having some pretty authentic, sensual dreams of a gorgeous man who likes to do more than nibble her delectable tidbits… Little does she realize she’s the chosen mate for this figment of her imagination (Marcus).  Marcus resists this union as he feels he has already failed one potential mate, but Cassandra’s mortal status is one he has no interest in.  Once they meet, sparks fly and the real adventures begin.  Taking an accelerated course in the supernatural, Cassandra must choose which world is the better fit for her.

Twombly has interwoven fascinating characters and story plots that will leave you wanting for more.  There are a couple of characters that I hope she is writing stories for now.

Having read paranormal authors like: Kenyon, Ward, Cole, Feehan, McCarty, Wolff, Armintrout and more, I believe Twombly to be right in their league. She has interwoven fascinating characters and story plots that will leave you wanting for more.  She has laid the foundation of a series that I will surely continue to follow as there are a couple of characters that I hope she is writing stories for now.

If you enjoy paranormal with demons, gods and goddesses, vampires, shape shifters, dragons, alternate worlds with a balance of adventure, humor, loyalty, friendship and romance, you should read Eternal Flame.
