Guest Post: "Absolute Obsession" C. Elizabeth

Today I have C. Elizabeth on my blog doing a guest post on her writing and her new book. So welcome C. Elizabeth and thank you for visiting Romance Book Junkies.

Thank you so much for having me here today and giving me the opportunity to talk about my writing and to discuss my contemporary romance novel, Absolute Obsession.

Absolute Obsession is about 42 year old Rose Gerbaldi who discovers her heart and soul have been forever united with beautiful, 30 year old, British movie star Michael Terrance. This discovery compels her to act in ways that are consequently devastating to the lives that fate had so lovingly entwined. Forsaken by a woman he’s never met and unable to control the debilitating agony, Michael seeks solace on the darker side of Hollywood. Meanwhile in Western Canada, having been doubly devastated, Rose surrenders to a life of loneliness. Both are certain they’ll never again find that for which they long for… each other.  Foolish people- fate is infallible.

And so my contemporary romance begins and started me on the journey that brought me here!
Many writers, possibly most, prepare an outline that plans the sequence of events their novel’s path is going to take.  For me however, that style of writing didn’t enter the equation because Absolute Obsession came straight from the mouths of my characters and onto the page.

The story came to me without hesitation and my characters of Michael and Rose began to act out their lives, drawing me into their world in such a way that they had me crying when they cried, loving when they loved, and every emotion under the sun was there for me to see and feel.  I travelled on a journey with them from start to finish. In fact, I had the whole story completed in my mind before it was ever put down on paper and it was only when the stage went silent that I realized it was time to write it out.  Michael and Rose had revealed every detail so vividly, the first draft of their story only took eleven days to complete. So I suppose that I used a mind map versus a regular outline.

Now that the floodgates have been opened, my new books are flowing forth and are being written at a fast pace, their lives being revealed long before my fingers hit the keyboard.  They are now waiting to take the hand of the rest of the world and lead you on the wonderful journey they took me on – you won’t be disappointed.
