Interview: "Reluctant Angel" by Chastity Bush

I' happy to welcome Chastity Bush to my blog today for an interview and she's going to tell us a little about her book "Reluctant Angel" and herself. So lets get started.

I know you get asked this question over and over but can you tell us a little about yourself? Maybe something juicy. ;)

Something juicy, huh? Lets see… I’m actually a pretty boring person. I spend most of my time with my husband and kids, and love every minute of it, but if you want juicy, the only thing I can think of is the HUGE crush I have on Colin Farrell and Joe Manganellio of True Blood.  My husband always teases me about it. J

When did you first start writing? Are you a full time author or do you do it on the side?

I started writing about five years ago and have always done it full time.  I love writing. The ability to create a new world that someone out there is going to lose themselves in is an amazing feeling.

Do you have an author that has really inspired you?

I’ve always loved the writing of Hanna Howell and Kresley Cole, but the author I look up to most as a person is Amanda McIntyre. I recently hosted her on my blog and she was the most wonderful person to speak with. She was so willing to help with anything I needed and answered any questions I asked. She really is a terrific person.

How long does it normally take you to write an average book or your last book?

Generally it takes me anywhere from 6-9 months to write a book. Recently, I had a little writer’s block, but that’s long gone and I’m writing my fingers off once more.

What do you think makes a story great?

The realness. The more realistic a story, the easier it is to lose yourself in the pages. You find yourself thinking about it even after you put the book down. I strive to make my stories as realistic as possible so this very thing happens.

Can you describe your book "Reluctant Angel" in one sentence?

A mixture of love, suspense, and finding ones true self while fighting red-hot desire.  (How was that? J)

Can you tell us more about “Reluctant Angel”?

The idea for Reluctant Angel just hit me out of nowhere. I’ve never had the urge to write something so erotic, or so fantastical. This turned out to be more of a fantasy than paranormal, and I loved every minute of writing it. Here’s a little blurb about Reluctant Angel.

An angel desperate for a second chance…

When a tragic accident takes the life of Killian Sams, she enters the one place she never thought she’d see. Heaven… or something like it.
Desperate for a second chance at life, Killian’s willing to do whatever it takes to regain her human life, including falling to Earth and facing the Destroyer.
If she can defeat The Destroyer, a creature who awakens once ever century to take the souls of as many people possible for power, she’ll earn any one of the countless souls he’s harvested over the years, including an immortal one.
But there's a catch, in order for her to be sent on this mission, she has to agree to help Chase Crawford- a mercenary who’s in desperate need of saving- see that his life is still worth living. However, she never expected to fall for the ruggedly handsome soldier of fortune.
Now, not only does Killian have eight days to find, face, and defeat The Destroyer in order to stay on Earth, she has to do it while fighting her growing feelings for the man she’s vowed to save, or lose him forever.

Have you done lots of research for your books or do the stories just come to you?

Usually, the stories just come to me. However, on my current work in progress, I’ve had to do a little research about the town it’s set in, as I’ve never been to Albuquerque.

What are you currently working on?

My current work in progress is a paranormal romance titled Melody Massacre To The Rescue. This is the first book in the Melody Massacre Series. Melody is a really strong character and I’m hoping a lot of women will love her. She’s loud and slightly sarcastic, but highly intelligent and determined.  Here’s a little blurb!

Melody Massacre's always been a little different, so her choice of career as a member of the Immortal Eradicating Unit or, IEU, isn't a big surprise. It’s the IEU’s job to conceal and control the paranormal species that roam the world, living and oftentimes killing humans.
When the bodies of charred and mutilated men start popping up at truck stops across the U.S., Melody, along with fellow agent Bennett McClain, follow the trail in search of the killer. Soon she finds herself facing past demons, new dangers, and a raging desire she’s never before experienced, all while sporting a pair of high heels and a pair of pink 9mm's strapped to her hips

Is there anything that I didn't cover that you would like to talk about or say to your potential readers?
I always like to tell my readers thank you. Thank you for picking up that novel by an author you’ve never heard of. Thank you for spreading the word about the great new book you read, and thank you for reading. Without the readers, we writers would be nothing.

Just for fun:
Hardback or Paperback?
Paperback, only because most hardbacks are bigger and take up more space.

Dog ears or Bookmarks?
ALWAYS BOOKMARK! Dog ears are one of my pet peeves!

YA novels or Adult novels?
Adult novels. I read my fair share of YA when I was younger, but the more I write adult, the more I love reading it.

Library or Bookstore?
Bookstore. I can’t bring myself to take back a book that I loved reading.

Reading glasses or No glasses?
No glasses, although, I could probably use some. J

Snack while reading or No snacks?
Generally, no snacks. I’m usually to lost in the story to eat at the same time.

Beach or Mountain?
Hmm… I love to hike, but I think I’d have to say beach. I love being in the water and soaking up the sun.

Vampire or Werewolf?
Ooo! That’s a toughie!!! I think vampire. I’ve always had a weakness for vampires.  (Unless it’s Joe Manganellio of True Blood, then it’s werewolf all the way!)

Hot or Flirty?
I’ve never considered myself hot, but I can be a little flirty, especially with my hubby. I don’t even realize I’m doing it, but he loves it.

Movie 1st or Book 1st?
I try to read the books first, but that doesn’t always happen.

Contemporary or Historical?
Historical, especially if it’s written by Hannah Howell or Stephanie Laurens.

Page-Turner or Tear Jerker?
Page turner! I love a suspenseful read.

Thank you so much for having me here today! I had a blast!

Great interview with a great writer. I've been a fan of Chastity's for a while, and now I'm an even bigger fan...nothing to do with the Joe obsession...okay, maybe a little...
