Book Club: Discussion Questions for Born Wicked

Hello Everyone, Today is our first discussion of "Born Wicked". Hopefully everybody had time to read chapters 1 - 5.

About the Book:

Everybody knows Cate Cahill and her sisters are eccentric. Too pretty, too reclusive, and far too educated for their own good. But the truth is even worse: they’re witches. And if their secret is discovered by the priests of the Brotherhood, it would mean an asylum, a prison ship—or an early grave.
Before her mother died, Cate promised to protect her sisters. But with only six months left to choose between marriage and the Sisterhood, she might not be able to keep her word... especially after she finds her mother’s diary, uncovering a secret that could spell her family’s destruction. Desperate to find alternatives to their fate, Cate starts scouring banned books and questioning rebellious new friends, all while juggling tea parties, shocking marriage proposals, and a forbidden romance with the completely unsuitable Finn Belastra.
If what her mother wrote is true, the Cahill girls aren’t safe. Not from the Brotherhood, the Sisterhood—not even from each other.

What did you think about these first 5 chapters?
Do you think Cate is smothering her sisters or protecting them?
What do you think about them having a governess?
What do you think about what Cate learns in her mother's diary?

We look forward to discussing the book with you and seeing what you thought. Do not feel obligated to answer all the questions that are posted. We just wanted to provide some jumping off points.
Thank you so much for participating in Romance Book Junkies book club. :)

This is a interesting story so far. I had a little bit of difficulty getting into the first couple of chapters but it seems to be getting better to me. I think it will be good for them to have a governess. I think Cate is a little bit of both - over protective and smothering her sisters.

I also had a hard time with the first few chapters but it gets better and better. I;m going to confess that once I got started and I read the whole book. So I will be commenting but no spoilers. I think that she i trying to protect her sisters. Her mother's diary made me feel frustrated.
