Interview & Giveaway: Stacy Kennedy

I am so excited to have one of my favorite authors on my blog today. I hope you all enjoy the interview as much as I enjoyed giving it. So lets give a very warm welcome to Stacey Kennedy. Oh, and don't forget to enter the giveaway at the end of the interview.

1.  I know you get asked this question over and over but can you tell us a little about yourself? Maybe something juicy. ;)

I suppose all I can say is I’m very much like my books. I like to laugh and I find humor in just about everything. I’m extremely emotional and that’s sometimes good, sometimes not. I’ve always been quite open when it comes to sexuality hence why it’s easier for me to write erotic romance. In fact, I’m much like an open book. I’ll answer any question someone asks, I’ve got nothing to hide and if you don’t want a honest answer, don’t ask me because that’s the only one I can give.

2. When did you first start writing? Are you a full time author or do you do it on the side?

I first started about two years ago and it’s been a whirlwind ever since. I was a stay at home mom so I wrote at naptime and on preschool days. Now that my kids are in school, I have more time to write, which just means a lot more book releases. I couldn’t imagine spending my days doing anything other than being with my kids to see them off to school and come home, and then spending the day with my characters. It’s fun times!

3. Do you have an author that has really inspired you?

Keri Arthur inspires me. I am a HUGE fan!  I would totally do the fan-girl scream if I had the chance to meet her. I just adore her work and am so happy that there will be so many novels in her Dark Angels series that I can enjoy.

4. How long does it normally take you to write an average book?

Of course it depends on the length. Novellas I tend to get finished in just a couple weeks. For a full length, it takes probably around a month a half. Usually, I can get that first draft done pretty quickly, but since I don’t plot my stories until I’m done it takes me longer to piece it all together. Revisions I have decided will eventually kill me!!

5. What do you think makes a story great?

Memorable characters, humor, danger, emotion, sexy scenes and romance. I do believe all these things are the perfect ingredients to make a story great! It’s exactly the stories I like to read and therefore tend to write.

6. Can you describe your book "Supernaturally Kissed" in one sentence?

A humorous sexy adventure between one woman and one ghost as they fight their way through forbidden love.

7. Have you done lots of research for your books or do the stories just come to you?

I usually make up most of what you find in my stories. I like for things to be on my terms and to come up with new ideas that make the world my own. But sometimes research is needed—there is just no way around it—so yes at those times I will Google my heart out!

8. What are you currently working on?

Right now I’m working on a BDSM erotic romance, Sweet Submissive. It’s my first ever full-length erotic romance. I typically tend to write novellas in this genre, but heck this story just took over and now it’s sitting around 90,000 words. I’m sending this one off to my agent and am crossing my fingers she thinks I’ve got something special with this new sexy series.

9. Can you tell us about some of your prior achievements?

Oh, I’ve had some pretty neat stuff happen like winning the best book of 2011 at The Romance Reviews and other cool recommended reads. There is no better feeling as an author then when readers love your characters as much as you do!

10. Is there anything that I didn't cover that you would like to talk about or say to your potential readers?

Thank you for the interview! As always, just a huge thank you to all the readers who have supported me along the way. You know I love you for it!!

Julianne, I have no clue how I came up with this idea! It honestly just hit one day! The idea at first centered around the heroine, Tess and then once Kipp entered my mind everything just fell into place!! ;-)
