Tell us a little about yourself.
I am an 38 year old South African living in a beautiful part of Cape Town (one of the most beautiful parts of South Africa in my opinion). My hubby and I have been together for 11 years and we have two four-legged babies that we treat like children (don’t tell him I said that!). We love being outdoors and love to go camping far away for the hustle and bustle of other people. I love blogging . . . it is one of my major hobbies besides reading - I spent too much time online!
Tell us about your blogs. What can we expect?
I have two blogs. My first blog “All the days of” started as a cross stitching and personal blog but became my book review blog in November last year. Now I mostly blog about books although I do have a few “random thoughts” and “things to be happy about” posts. I have started a Sunday feature recently where I interview authors and bloggers. That is great fun! In future, I hope to become more and more practiced in writing reviews and interviews.
I also have a second blog, “Everything’s just peachy today”. This is a purely giveaway blog. I list all the international giveaways I find. If anyone wants to be added, I am just an email away ;-)
When did you start reading? And when did you become addicted?
I have always loved reading and was always totally addicted. When I met my husband (who also loves to read) reading became less and less of a priority for us. The only time we really took the time to sit down and read was when we went camping. Then last year, I decided to treat myself with a “from-me-to-me” gift for my birthday. I wanted to see what all the fuss was about these paranormal books I heard about. I bought “Twilight” and the rest is history. The very next day, I went to the bookshop and bought the rest of the series which I finished in a week. And now I am hooked and totally addicted again. And I am not only addicted to reading, all things connected to books including book reviews and book blogs are now my passion.
What genre did you start reading first or have you always read romance novels?
When I was young, I read the normal young girls-books. When I became a teenager, I switched to romances. For a bit, I went through a horror phase where I read nothing but gore. Now I read mostly paranormal romances and historical romances. But if the story draws me, I will read other genres as well. As long as there is a hint of little bit of romance, I am happy.
What is your favorite genre now?
My favorite genre alternates between paranormal and historical romances. At the moment I am also in a little of a dystopian phase – I love zombies!
Is there any genres you don't like? Why?
I don’t enjoy Urban fantasy books. I need a little romance, even if there is only a hint of it. If you asked me a little while back, I would also have added Young Adult books as a genre I don’t enjoy. But I have read a few YA recently that are rapidly changing my mind on that thought.
If you had to guess how many books do you think you have read in your lifetime?
I would have to guess thousands. It is a difficult question . . . I have joined a 100-books-read-this-year challenge in January and I am up to about 86/87 now . . .
How long does it take for you to read a normal sized book?
That depends on the book, size and my mood. But if all factors were in my favor, I could read it in a day. Usually I will give myself ‘n week, reading a few chapters every night before I go to bed.
What is your favorite books and authors? (I know this could be a tough one)
I don’t just have one favorite authors, I have lots! Some I love include SAM CHEEVER, NALINI SINGH and SHELLY LAURENSTON. These are authors that is a automatic read for me. I don’t have favorite books as I don’t usually re-read books and my favorites therefor keep on changing as I find new books and authors.
Thanks Chriz for the interview!
