I have a guest today! Sophia @ Fiction Vixen Book Reviews

Today I have a guest on my blog. I was thinking about how I would really like to get to know the actual people behind the blogs better. And I figured if I'm interested there are probably more readers out there who are interested like me.

So, today I have Sophia here to do a fun interview about herself and her reading habits/preferences.
Sophia has a blog called Fiction Vixen Book Reviews and if you haven't checked her blog out yet you need to head over there. (after the interview of course) =)

1. Tell us a little about yourself. Anything interesting we should know about? Maybe something juicy? :)
I am the least interesting person I know!  I’ll just give you the abbreviated version of my boringness: Reader of urban fantasy, paranormal, historical and contemporary romance. Wife, mom, blogger, coffee drinker, iPhone addict, Kindle lover. And a bunch of other stuff too.

2. How long have you been reading? When did you start? When did you officially become addicted?
I’ve read off and on most of my life as circumstances permit.  As a kid I loved the Trixie Belden series and Judy Blume books.  As a teen, I read things like Flowers In The Attic by V.C. Andrews (I know) and I snuck in an historical romance here and there.  Now that my kids are not babies anymore I have a little more time to read and blog and I would say I officially became addicted after discovering paranormal romance via Twilight by Stephenie Meyers.

3. What genre did you start reading first? Or have you always read romance novels?
As a kid I liked mysteries etc.  As an adult, it’s always been romance.  I just can’t get enough of it.

4. What are your favorite genres now?
Romance still remains my favorite genre, but this past year I have really enjoyed urban fantasy, especially romantic urban fantasy.  I don’t always need a strong romantic storyline when reading urban fantasy though.

5. Is there any genres you don't like? Why?
I don’t care for horror.  I don’t mind elements of horror in my urban fantasy etc. but I don’t care for the gory, grizzly stuff.

6. If you had to guess how many books you have read in your lifetime how many would it be?
I have no idea.  I read over 150 last year and about that so far this year, so…you get the picture. :)

7. How long does it usually take you to read an average book?
It really depends on what’s going on in my life.  Usually 1-3 days.

8. What is your review style? Any formulas? :)
I like to do a brief summary, discuss whatever it was about the book that stood out for me, bring up what didn’t work, and then sum up. Some reviews are more in-depth than others, it really just depends on the book and how I felt about it.

9. Do you tend to judge a book by it's cover?
Unfortunately, sometimes I do.  There are some covers I can’t get past to open the book.  If something about the cover turns me off, I’m more likely to pass it by.  On the other hand, a pretty cover gets my attention in a hurry.

10. What are you reading now?
The Princess In His Bed by Lila DiPasqua.  It’s a retelling a three classic fairy tales with a little spice added.  I loved her debut Awakened by A Kiss.

This or That?

Hardback or Paperback? – e-book.
:)
Dog ears or Bookmarks? – bookmarks
YA novels or Adult novels? – adult novels
Library or Bookstore? - both
Reading glasses or No glasses? – reading glasses
Snack while reading or No snacks? – no snacks
Beach or Mountain? – mountain
Vampire or Werewolf? – werewolf
Hot or Flirty? - Both
Movie 1st or Book 1st? - Book first
Contemporary or Historical? - Historical (but I still love contemp)
Page-Turner or Tear Jerker? - Page-turner

Thanks for stopping by Sophia. It was a lot of fun. :)

Cool interview! Fiction Vixen is my mostest favorite vixen in the whole entire world! And I agree with no snacks. Who wants to smear the Kindle screen or dirty the pages? They are dirty enough as is ;)

Nice interview. I think reading Flowers in the Attic must be some sort of right of passage, Fiction Vixen. :D

Hey Amy--I'd love to guest on your blog again. :)

Catherine--Yes I agree with you. You haven't been properly broken in until you've read it LOL.

Wonderful interview ladies! I've been a long time stalker/follower of Fiction Vixen. I can't imagine reading 150 books in a year!! That's amazing. I've topped myself this year by reading 61 (so far). Of course, my kids are still little. Speaking of which - you and my daughter share the beautiful name of Sophia. Awww!

Diana--Thanks for stalking/following!! :) I was shocked last year when I added up all the books I read and even more shocked this year when I realized I would best myself. Even with three kids and a hubby I managed to get my read on I guess LOL. :)
