Goodreads Blurb:
To seal a fragile truce, Fiona Sinclair’s brothers trade her in marriage to their sworn enemy. Though devastated by their betrayal, she has little choice in the matter, for if she refuses, her innocent young sister must take her place. Although the spirited Fiona is willing to sacrifice her freedom to protect her kin, she vows to never surrender her heart.

As eldest son of a clan chief, Myles Campbell is accustomed to having his own way. But when the Scottish King commands he wed a defiant Highland lass instead of the French mademoiselle who holds his heart, Myles must obey his royal duty. Meeting his bride for the first time on their wedding day, he is pleased to discover the lass is a beauty, but dismayed to learn she’d just as soon kill him as kiss him.

And thus begins an uneasy alliance.

When two such warrior spirits collide, sparks fly, igniting a fiery passion that strains against the bonds of family honor, clan loyalty—and the ultimate surrender – love.

If you like a headstrong, passionate, high spirited, faithful heroine go no further this is the book for you. Fiona is the one of the toughest, opinionated women I ever meet. Even though her brothers force her into marriage to their enemy even they couldn't make her do it except she has a very beautiful younger sister that she is sworn to protect. Being the way that she is she fights her marriage, husband and feelings to the very end making her new husband shoot through hoops to get her to accept her new place in life and the feelings she's building for him.

Myles is a nice, handsom, patient husband towards Fiona but he isn't happy taking on a Sinclair as a wife either but he tries to make the best of it and he can't fight his attraction to Fiona. Even he can only take so much rejection though and nearly gives up. Because of the problems between these two newlyweds it makes for a very slow and long romantic development.

I thought it was paced beautifully I like a lot of sexual tention and after all the long waiting when these two finally do get together its gloriously hot. All the loose ends are tied up nicely at the end making for a great HEA. The plot was great Fiona really puts Myles through the paces. I found Fiona's character to be very hard headed about matters that were even explained resonably to her and she still makes a big deal out of them instead of accepting the fact that everthing may not be as it seems so thats a little annoying but thats a big part of her character development I suppose.

I would recommend this book to all historical romance fans especially ones that have a soft or warm spot for highlander novels. This was my first novel by this author. I'm not sure if this is her debut novel or not but I would definitely pick up another book by her. I recommend this book to those that don't mind a stubborn heroine.

Happy Reading!
