Goodreads Blurb:
When dealing with the devil it's easy to be burned… especially when passion ignites the flames.
Who can find a virtuous woman… Beautiful, respectable, and dutiful, Lady Diana Palmerston-Wriothesley has long resigned herself to her decade-long loveless and childless marriage to a feckless husband…until his gambling pushes them to the brink of financial ruin.

Sometimes the devil is in disguise…as a gentleman… Viscount Ludovic, "The Devil DeVere", is a man accustomed to taking what he wants according to his whim and heedless of the cost…until he encounters a woman who won't be had at any price.

When dealing with the devil, it's easy to be burned… When Diana discovers a secret that shatters the carefully built façade concealing her private pain, she seeks aid and comfort from the most unlikely place…the devil's arms. But will a single night of heavenly passion damn them both forever?

My Review:
A deliciously shocking addition to the DeVere Series that was jam packed full of jaw dropping surprises. This is the third book in the Devil DeVere Series (the series MUST be read in order) and it clarified many questions that lingered of past relations with Diana and DeVere from the others in the series. We also got to know more of what made our devilish DeVere who he’s reputed to be and some of the why(s). It was a great experience to have the guarded DeVere open to us all. I'm loving him more and more as the series goes on!

Diana is a married woman and not by choice. It was arranged by her parents and followed through to tie her to their lands and fortunes. She’s been miserable ever since. One would think after being married to a person for a decade they would truly know the person. Diana shockingly found out many long kept secrets that her husband has kept guarded. Those secrets answered many questions and brought forth much treachery, deceit and loss. Diana goes to the only person she feels can help her in this situation, DeVere. Will she regret the decision she has made to go to him for help or will all fall into place as planned?

DeVere is the devil in disguise. He’s a tasty specimen of a man and has many indulgences. But when Diana approaches him with a request of help; he’s not only ready willing and able. He has a very strong attraction and desire to have Diana in his grasp and as his.

There are two characters’ I feel I must vent about. They both should truly hold the name of the devil for they make DeVere look like an absolute saint! I disliked Caroline from her introduction into the book. She’s very manipulative, deceitful, cruel and just all around a horrible person. Then there’s Reggie, Diana’s husband. What a waste of a man. He’s a lying, cheating, abusive sack of crap and I was thrilled he received his just deserts ;)

There’s something about romantic historical that brings a different feel of sensuality forth. I think it may be the dialogue that is used. It's very different from what we hear every day. It brings about a thrill of anticipation when the dialogue is written out with the accompanying actions. It's a different kind of HOT that anyone that enjoys historical and romance can appreciate. I'm excited to see where Victoria takes us next!

Next book, please :)
