I know
you get asked this question over and over but can you tell us a little about
yourself? Maybe something juicy. ;)
Oh, no!
Something juicy? I don’t think
there is anything exciting about me.
Think of me as the very epitome of a quiet, reclusive writer who,
between deadlines, is a very dull housewife.
When did you first start writing? Are you a full time author or do you do it on the side?
I started writing fiction in 1996, I think,
on a whim, but early in my career I worked as an editorial assistant (amongst
other things) at Virginia Tech. In
between those times, I did a lot of writing related to my career in the
chemical and automotive industries. Actually,
I think I’ve done everything but wrestle gators for a living . . .
Do you have a author that has really inspired you?
When I had time to read for fun—about four
decades ago—I soaked up everything Victoria Holt and Agatha Christie
wrote. And I wallowed in the books of
Georgette Heyer. I still have all her
works, and hope to re-read them again someday.
How long
does it normally take you to write an average book or your last book?
About ten months, start to finish. I am, by industry standards, a very slow
writer.
What do
you think makes a story great?
A hero and/or a heroine the reader can truly
root for.
Can you describe
your book "A Bride by Moonlight" in one sentence?
It’s a story about finding redemption and love.
Tell us
more about “A Bride by Moonlight?
The story is about Royden Napier, a
character my regular readers have seen before.
As the book opens, Napier is facing some huge challenges in his personal
life, all while attempting to do his job as Assistant Commissioner of the
Metropolitan Police. But the biggest
challenge he faces, in the end, will be Elizabeth Colburne.
Have you
done lots of research for your books or do the stories just come to you?
They generally just come to me.
What are you currently working on?
I’ve just put the finishing touches on my
next book, which will be out later this year.
Is there
anything that I didn't cover that you would like to talk about or say to your
potential readers?
Just that if they choose to read A BRIDE BY MOONLIGHT, I hope they will enjoy it.
Just for fun:
Hardback or Paperback?
Hardback.
Dog ears or Bookmarks?
Sadly, dog ears.
YA novels or Adult novels?
Adult.
Library or Bookstore?
50-50
Reading glasses or No glasses?
Glasses.
I own four different prescriptions; my vision is terrible.
Snack while reading or No snacks?
I can only do one thing at a time. Ever.
Beach or Mountain?
Beach.
Vampire or Werewolf?
Neither.
Ever.
Hot or Flirty?
Flirty.
Movie 1st or Book 1st?
Book.
Contemporary or Historical?
Historical.
Page-Turner or Tear Jerker?
Page-turner.
Thank you!

Book Description:
Royden Napier, Baron Saint-Bryce, is tall, dark, and

to the Continent, bold, beautiful Lisette Colburne accepts a proposal she dare
not refuse: masquerade as the future bride of the steely-eyed Royden Napier and
help him solve his most dangerous case. Soon Lisette is in even greater

Estranged from his aristocratic family, the enigmatic Napier

He's vowed to bring Lisette to justice—but with every forbidden kiss and every

and more certain he must have her. But when danger touches Lisette, can he save
her?
A lifelong Anglophile, Liz Carlyle cut her teeth reading
gothic novels under the bedcovers by flashlight. She is the author of over

Along with her genuine romance-hero husband and four very fine felines, she

I have such a soft spot in my heart for historical romances. That is how I started reading romance. I owe a few of Liz's book already and she writes about English lords extremely well

Hi Liz -
Congratulations on the release of A Bride by Moonlight last month!
I love reading your books and this one is going to be so much fun to read! I can still remember watching re-runs of Sir Arthur Conan Coyle playing police commissioner Sherlock Holmes. Of course at the time I was watching it on a black and white TV!
Since then I discovered the wonderful Ellis Peters and her unique character who was a Knights Templar before he became Brother Cadfael.
One of the reasons I love both these detectives is that they both use different strategies than the norm to "get their man"!
I can't wait to see how Roydent will approach solve his mystery and if LIsette will help in the process like the wonderful Miss Jane Marple!
