I love the whole family getting together, total chaos but lovely!
We used to spread Christmas over 2 days, there were too many to fit into the house comfortably on one day when we grew up. Everything counted, the lights (probably overdone, but beautiful), the music played all month of December, the house was washed down from the ceiling down to the cellar floor and the scents of pine and floor wax greeted you at the door, we would bake a desert a day through December, the fruit cake was a special recipe handed down through generations. Everyone was welcome and often we would scramble to find a gift for someone who showed up at the door unexpectedly. No one left empty handed. There was always lots of food, music, lights, and the most special thing; the feeling and memories of the spirit of Christmas.
I love spending time with my family and watching my nieces and nephews open their presents.

The best thing about Christmas is that it's the one time of year that both my husband and I can get the same days off of work and have the chance to visit our grandchildren who live a 18 hour drive away!
There's nothing better than seeing the joy on our grandchildren's faces on Christmas morning especially when the gift they have received is a book!
