Today I'd like to say a few words about the
character we girls are waiting for. The warrior we wish we could meet round the
street corner. The alpha male we have fantasized about for years and years. The
strong, caring, dark man we dream of every waking and sleeping hour. I'm sure
you all know who I'm thinking of by now: the one whose name we whisper in the
dead of night, the one we picture when lying alone in bed, the one who will
always be in our minds no matter what. The larger than life man we secretly
name HIM.
In BLIND TO MEN, I chose to call him Kylor in
reference to the character of Kyle Reese from the 1984 James Cameron's
science-fiction movie "The Terminator". Now he was a fighter!
And why a warrior? To say nothing of the fact
that I totally love fantasy, I write true. True to my feelings, my desires, my
hopes, my mistakes, my fears, my heartaches, and my never-ending dreams. So in
his own way, Kylor came to life as a tribute to another faithful warrior and
protector who deeply touched me: Aragorn in "Lord of The Rings".
