Author Spotlight & Giveaway - H.P. Mallory

 H.P. Mallory

I recently had the privilege to read and review H.P. Mallory's book "Fire Burn & Cauldron Bubble". You can read my review here.

I loved the book and decided that I wanted to introduce you to her as well. So she has agreed to participate in my author spotlight and to giveaway a copy of her books.

My Interview:

Can you tell us a little about yourself?
Sure, I'm 33 and I'm married and have a 17 month old son. I live in California although I lived in the UK for two years--Cambridge and Edinburgh, and that's where I was bitten by the writing bug!

When and why did you begin writing?
I began while living in Cambridge, England and it was basically because I was living in such a magical place, I felt the need to be creative. You can't help but think of great stories when confronted with such awesome history!

What do you think makes a story great?
It has to be something that keeps you up late at night and something you can't put down--a page turner. And it really doesn't have to do anything with subject matter. As long as it's a page turner...

Now about "Fire Burn & Cauldron Bubble:
If you could describe this book in one sentence what would it be?
The story of a woman finding herself and dealing along the way with love, fear, comedy and hope.

How did you come up with the title?
Love that you asked me this question! No one has asked this yet and it's from Macbeth. It's when the witches are chanting--they say: Double Double Toil and Trouble, Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble!

We all have to know. Who designed the cover?
LOL well, I did the design. I need to caveat this by saying I purchased the images and then added the Halloweeny backgrounds, changed hair and eye color and added the text in photoshop. Yay photoshop!

Did you have to do a lot of research for this book?
Nope, none really. Just pulled everything out of my head. I might have researched some of the locations a bit but I'd traveled to all of them so it was pretty easy to write about them.
How long did it take you to write "Fire Burn & Cauldron Bubble"?
About 6 months.

OK I have to know. When does book two come out?
I'm thinking in about 4 months from now

How may books are there going to be in the series? Will they all be based on the same characters or will you have other couples?
I think there will be 3-5 books in the series. Yes, same characters but new characters could be introduced.

What current projects are you working on?
I'm working on the follow up book to Fire Burn, Toil and Trouble. I've just finished chapter 9 out of a proposed 20 so getting there!

Is there anything you want to say?
I just want to thank you and all my readers for giving my books a chance. I know there are so many choices out there for you all to read and it really means a lot to me when someone takes a chance on me!

To enter the giveaway you need to answer the following question asked by H.P.
Hmm, I like it. Let's ask: Do you believe in ghosts?

Thank you again H.P. for taking the time to participate in my author spotlight. I wish you luck with your future writing endeavors.

H.P.'s Books:

Goodreads Blurb:
A self-deprecating witch with the unique ability to reanimate the dead. A dangerously handsome warlock torn between being her boss and her would-be lover. A six hundred year old English vampire with his own agenda; one that includes an appetite for witches. The Underworld in a state of chaos. Let the games begin.
Life isn’t bad for psychic Jolie Wilkins. True, she doesn’t have a love life to speak of, but she has a cute house in the suburbs of Los Angeles, a cat and a quirky best friend.
Enter Rand Balfour, a sinfully attractive warlock who insists she’s a witch and who just might turn her life upside down. Rand hires her to help him solve a mystery regarding the death of his client who also happens to be a ghost. Jolie not only uncovers the cause of the ghost’s demise but, in the process, she brings him back to life!
Word of Jolie’s incredible ability to bring back the dead spreads like wildfire, putting her at the top of the Underworld’s most wanted list. Consequently, she finds herself at the center of a custody battle between a villainous witch, a dangerous but oh-so-sexy vampire, and her warlock boss, Rand.

 Goodreads Blurb:
The murder of a dark arts warlock. A shape-shifting, ravenous creature on the loose. A devilishly handsome stranger sent to investigate. Sometimes working law enforcement for the Netherworld is a real bitch.

Thanks so much for this giveaway!
Great interview :D

Answer: Yes I do believe in ghosts! I do think our spirits can get stuck on earth before moving on. And even sometimes stay.

Great interview and I agree with H.P. that asking how a title came about is a great question for an interview!

As for the question: I believe more in spirits than ghosts. I think they're more blob like souls than an actual human image but I do believe they exist.

Well... I believe in ghosts. But I think them as spirits or souls in a different dimension from ours... the fourth dimension. (ok, I know that probably sounds pretty geeky) I believe that bodies can die but souls are eternal. But we can't see them (maybe some do... creepy) and they can't see us. (different dimension, ring a bell?)
Thanks for the lovely interview! (not to mention fabulous giveaway) You can reach me at luvpinkpanther@gmail.com

Fantastic interview! I don't really believe in ghosts. Do you mean mad ghosts in bloody white dresses or Casper? Either way, I don't believe them. However, I do believe in souls that go to heaven (or burn in hell) after death. By the way, I am a follower.

Yes, I believe in ghosts. Do I believe they're here to torment or help us? Do I believe they really show themselves the way Hollywood makes out, no. I think they're in that fourth dimension, like Pink Panther said. ;)

Good luck with your series, Ms. Mallory. It looks interesting!

I most definitely believe in ghosts although I have never seen one.

I believe that spirits can stay on this plane for some reason. I think I have had some connection with ghosts, like feeling a hand on my shoulder, but no one was there and the like.

I would like to see one.

I've been watching enough True Blood and reading paranormal romances that I'm beginning to believe ghosts and other supernatural creatures exist. I've worked at several house museums and visitors always ask if we have ghosts. I never know what to say and I often wished I could confirm that yes, we do have a ghost.
