Goodreads Blurb:
She's a mortal with dark powers...

After a tragic accident scarred her body and destroyed her dreams, Leila never imagined that the worst was still to come: terrifying powers that let her channel electricity and learn a person's darkest secrets through a single touch. Leila is doomed to a life of solitude...until creatures of the night kidnap her, forcing her to reach out with a telepathic distress call to the world's most infamous vampire...

He's the Prince of Night...

Vlad Tepesh inspired the greatest vampire legend of all—but whatever you do, don't call him Dracula. Vlad's ability to control fire makes him one of the most feared vampires in existence, but his enemies have found a new weapon against him—a beautiful mortal with powers to match his own. When Vlad and Leila meet, however, passion ignites between them, threatening to consume them both. It will take everything that they are to stop an enemy intent on bringing them down in flames.

What a great start to a new series. This book was fantastic. I could have sat down and read the whole thing in one sitting. Jeaniene keeps to her writing style in this book and her world of vampire caos.

Leila is a troubled soul that had a horrific accident when she was only a child and now she has unbelievable powers. When the vampire world finds out about her powers she becomes a prize to be had. First she's kidnapped and then is rescued by our super sexy hero, Vlad. Vlad is the one and only vampire prince himself and all the scary stories are true. But Leila doesn't know whether to be scared of him or to love him. As they try to seek out the enemy bonds are made and hopes are shattered. Vlad has a heart of stone.

Vlad and Leila are determined not to sleep together but their attraction to one another can't be stopped no matter the warnings they may receive. Their very slow to come together and I liked that there was plenty of tension in this book. I loved everything about this book except the very end. We don't get a happy ever after ending and talk about cliffhanger. It will leave you gasping and sitting on the edge of your seat.

I highly recommend this book to all paranormal romance fans and I think Urban Fantasy fans will love this one too. It's a beautifully written story. I can't wait till the next book in the series.

Ava's Review:

I absolutely love Jeanine Frost’s writing! I have read all of her works to date and found my self satisfied each and every time. Her writing is so vivid and each and every one of her characters, good or bad is amazing! Once Burned is a fun, (at times) funny, sensual, exciting read that was extremely hard to put down. I REALLY had to pace myself with it to make it last. I felt it to be one of those reads that it’s done before you know it and you never want it to end. Any paranormal lover will get full enjoyment out of Once Burned :)
Leila considers herself a freak; Injured due to a power line coming in contact with her and ending up like an electrostatic plasma ball but much more powerful and dangerous. She’s also scarred from the traumatizing event in many ways but also has some amazing abilities. Now her place is with a father like figure named Marty and some REAL carnival freaks in a traveling carnival. After one day letting one of her abilities out accidentally and sharing what she has found out. Many start to come after her and her abilities with hopes to use her for their own selfish purposes. She now finds herself in a situation she cannot escape but uses her smarts and power to get help.
Vlad (oh Vlad) is one hot vampire! He’s not one to mess with in any regard. After all he is known as Vlad the Impaler and can blow things (and people) up, nice a crisply, with a mere flick of his wrist. When he feels Leila in his head he is hesitant, but comes to a decision to help her since he’s who they want after all. Does he regret his decision to help her from the start or is he in his glory because she has powers that have proven very useful and efficient to finding his enemies?

I’m looking forward to the next in the series. I really hope the wall around Vlad’s heart crumbles and he lets Leila fully in. They are a great team and have excellent chemistry together. It would great to see a relationship grow with the two. I really wonder what the next will unfold for us!!
