NOTE: This is book #2 in a tightly connected series that should be read in order**

Desperate times call for devilish measures… when the object of one's passion has eyes for another… it's time to take matters in hand!
Lady Vesta Chambers is accustomed to getting what she wants…Coddled and pampered, since her mother's death, Lady Vesta Chambers is beside herself when her father goes to London to prepare for her come-out and returns with a young bride of his own. With her world turned upside down, Vesta accompanies her godmother, Diana, to town, where she is smitten the moment she lays eyes on a certain captain of the Seventeenth Light Dragoons.
But when the object of her passion has eyes for another…
Captain Hewett DeVere, younger brother and heir to Viscount Ludovic "The Devil" DeVere, has returned from the American war scarred, disillusioned, and looking forward to settling down to a quiet and respectable life. But when the handsome and straight-laced captain turns his eyes toward the widowed Diana, Vesta is prepared to take devilish measures to prove she is no longer a little girl, but a woman with the passion of …a huntress.

A great addition to The Devil DeVere series. This is the story of Vesta, Ned's daughter, she comes to London for her coming out and is struck my cupid when she meets DeVere's younger brother Captain Hew but he seems to be more interested in her Aunt Di. So she goes to her godfather Lord DeVere for help and the conspire together to kidnap Captain Hew so he is forced to spend 3 days in Vesta's company alone so that she can make him see that they belong together and that he loves her.

Vesta is a immature, spoiled brat and Hew is a complete gentlemen and war hero. They seem an unlikely match but Vesta is determined to have whatever she wants and she has her eyes set on Captain Hew. So nothing will stop her from winning his heart and she does just that but not without consequences for her behavior. She learns a very hard lesson in the 3 days with Hew and matures to a women.

This is a very cleverly written story and I enjoyed it very much. But I can't say I love Vesta's character at all. But I am very fond of Hew. This was a very original story for a historical romance. I would recommend this book to historical romance fans but you must read the series in order. This is not a series that you can read out of order or just read one of the books without the others. I very much look forward to seeing how Vesta's father reacts to her scheming plan in the next book. This is a must read series for historical romance fans who like their books scorching hot.
