Spooktacular Day 4: Spooky Halloween Interview and Giveaway with Stacey Kennedy

What kind of Halloween person are you? Dress up and party every year, give out candy maybe dressed up, or hide inside your house with the porch light off?

As a kid, I was the type to run around the neighborhood for hours getting as much candy as I possibly could. As an adult, I love going out with my kids and seeing them in their cute costumes, and we also give out candy too. Of course, we save a little for me and the hubby to devour later. I don’t dress up on that night, but my hubby and I go to a Halloween party our friend puts on every year. It’s always a blast! This year we’ve decided to go as Sookie and Eric. I even have Sookie’s Merlotte uniform and just have to get a blonde wig! I think that’ll be hubby’s favorite accessory to the costume!

Do you decorate outside for Halloween?

I don’t go crazy. I always have a couple pumpkins and a few decorations, but nothing awesome like I see at other houses. Deep down, I’m more of a Christmas gal. That time of year, my house is filled with decorations.

Are you a master pumpkin carver?

I’m horrible at pumpkin carving. I leave that up to the hubby since he’s so good at it. I happen to be horrible at drawing and it seems I’m even worse at carving a pumpkin. I usually end up making it look all wrong, so that’s hubby’s job!

Name 3 costumes you’ve worn and at what age.

In the last three years my costumes have been Wilma Flintstone, an angel, and a cat.

Find a picture of a costume you love.

This is my favorite costume. I was a pregnant nun…and yeah, the smoking and drinking just seemed appropriate!

Tell us the scariest thing that has ever happened to you and it doesn’t have to be Halloween related.

Luckily, I don’t have any scary stories. I’m a total chicken and would probably have a heart attack and die on the spot. But I’ll tell you a scary story that just happened to my sister the other day.

She lives in a very old house and had a few friends over, and her son was sleeping upstairs in his bedroom. Through the baby monitor, they heard someone walking around in her son’s bedroom. Like they heard footsteps! Not just once, but twice!! OMG! Then all of a sudden they heard a woman’s voice come through the monitor. Of course, my sister told her husband to go up into the bedroom since someone was up there in her son’s room. When he opened the door, he found their son sitting up and wide awake! HOLY CRAP?! I’m so freaked out by that story I don’t think I’ll ever be able to sleep over at her house again!

Do you like haunted houses or mazes?

No. I don’t like anything haunted or anything that could possibly scare me!

Do you believe in ghosts?

Yes, I do! Do I want to see one? No, I do not!! I prefer to write about them and make them sexy!

What is your favorite Halloween tradition?

Eating candy, of course!

What is your favorite Halloween movie to watch or are you a Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown sort?

I don’t think I’ve ever watched a Halloween movie, except for Scared Shrekless with the kids.

Have you ever tricked instead of treated like toilet papering someone’s house or egging a person or house?

Never. But I’ve had my car egged and let me tell you that was annoying to wash off.

Freddy Krueger or Jason Voorhees?

Neither. I don’t do scary movies!!!

What’s your favorite Urban Legend?

Bloody Mary. I learned about this Urban Legend as a child. If you didn’t hear about it, you can find it here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bloody_Mary_%28folklore%29. Scared me as a kid and even now I cannot be in bathroom with the lights off!

Stacey Kennedy’s novels are lighthearted fantasy with heart-squeezing, thigh-clenching romance, and even give a good chuckle every now and again. But within the stories you’ll also find fast-paced action, life-threatening moments, and a big bad villain who needs to be destroyed. She lives in Southwestern Ontario with her husband and two children. If she’s not plugging away at a new story—which is rare since her muse is annoying— you’ll find her camping, curling up with the latest flick, or obsessing over Sons of Anarchy and Dexter!

Stacey welcomes comments from readers. You can find her at www.staceykennedy.com.

A good witch always has a kick-ass back-up plan.

In Charleston, Libby is an Enchantress—a witch gifted by the Goddess to conjure spells. When a magical presence is detected around a recent string of feline slayings, Libby must take the case to discover the reasons behind the odd deaths. Much to her displeasure, the coven has also sent the sexy warlock, Kale, to assist her.
While having the muscle around proves to be useful, fighting the attraction between them is worse than a hex, especially considering Kale is keeping secrets. Libby has good reason to believe that Kale is there to evaluate her performance as a witch, and fears her job is on the line. But soon, Libby has bigger problems than the elusive warlock and career stability. Her spells are turning up clues that point to something far more sinister than slaughtered cats, leading her to a threat that could shake the very foundation of her world.
Now Libby lands herself in the midst of an uprising. She trusts no one and isn’t safe. Not from the warlocks stirring up trouble. Not from the worrisome rebellion she can’t escape. And certainly not from Kale who is weaving a very dangerous spell over her.

Stacey has generously donated a ebook copy of her newest book "The Cat's Meow". It hasn't even hit the stores yet but should be coming soon. The winner will receive the book on release day. This giveaway is International. Leave a comment telling me how you follow me and under what name.

I love the pregnant nun, smoking and drinking is absolutely priceless! One of those costumes you will love explaining that baby years down the road I bet! If they are as much of a smart ass as my teenager is they will love giving you hell for years over it!

I rarely dress up but I couple years ago my hubby and I went as a devil and angel. I dressed up as the saucy devil and made him do the goody pure white angel. Which is so far from his personality it made it really funny!

Normally we just carve pumpkins and walk the kiddos (well only one now the others "to old") and leave out candy.

Love that pregnant nun costume, LOL! I am the opposite though, I love the scary movies. Although my oldest niece & I usually end up laughing at them. I grew up watching them and my sister has raised her kids to love them too. I will never forget when my oldest nephew was about 4, I went to watch a movie with him on DVD(I had not seen it yet). About 2 minutes into it, he turns to me and says "They cut his head off at the end". He did not even give a spoiler alert first! LOL.
