"Takhini Wolves, Book 2"

Life in isolation is the safest place for Chase Johnson, a crossbreed who doesn't know which form he'll assume next-cougar or wolf. Once a year, his unelected position as spokesman for the Yukon outcasts forces him to visit civilization. This time he runs across someone unexpected. She's not his mate, but she pushes all the right buttons.

It's taken years for Shelley Bradley to gather the courage to return to her home pack. In spite of being the lowest of the low-a shifter who can't shift-she's determined to make a place for herself as the Whitehorse locals' new vet-slash-doctor.

There's definite electricity between her and Chase, but sex with fellow shifters and the inherent mind games got old a long time ago. Ignoring him seems best. When he shows up at her office with a wound that won't heal, she's stuck-yet drawn to solve this medical mystery.

As they journey deep into outcast territory in search of answers, their powerful sexual attraction crumbles her resistance. But time is of the essence. If a cure can't be found before his human and cougar succumb to his injury, he-and others like him-will die.

Warning: Contains a silver-tongued, hairy-chested, lean-muscled Alpha who's got what it takes to lead in the wilderness and in the bedroom. Yeah, I know...not really much of a deterrent, is it? Throw in continuing territorial wars and a domestic cat. Stir and enjoy the chaos.

Vivian Arend is one of the many authors that got me addicted to shifters. I've yet to be disappointed by any of the works I've read by her to this day (I own and have read 18 of her works so far). Silver Mine is an excellent addition to the Takhini Wolves series with another fun loving pair for us to enjoy. I LOVED that character’s from Black Gold (the first book of the series) where involved a great deal in this book. It made me feel all giddy to see Gem again with her silly mate Shaun. Silver mine is a sensual paranormal read that can be read as a stand alone and I would recommend it to any paranormal or romance lover to indulge in :)

Shelley is back in the town she left some time ago to start anew and to be with her sister. She left many years ago because she felt she never quite fit in and was treated that way by many. Leaving was the best thing she could have done for herself. Now she’s a doctor and vet all rolled into one pretty package and she’s determined to make things work so she can be with her sister again. Unable to shift and being a shifter in a shifter world in not easy, but she’s back to prove herself, for her personal satisfaction as well as to show others from the pack.

Chase is a loner, a very handsome shifter that’s without a pack, by choice. Oh, did I mention he’s an Alpha male shifter that can shift to both wolf and cougar forms? Oops! He’s making his annual trip to a town known as Whitehorse to pick up much needed supplies for the year to come. He meets the towns newest alpha, makes some new friends and gets something that he’s never had before to bring home along with his supplies to his very nice, private and lonesome cabin, or so he thought.

I enjoyed every aspect of this book and look forward to the next in the series. I'm very curious as to who will be struck with cupid’s arrow next :)
