A Scoundrel Drives a Hard Bargain...

Spirited and determined to protect her young brother at any cost, Lisette Lavigne is desperate to flee New Orleans. There’s only one ship sailing to England, though, and the rakish Captain Daniel Hillary will only allow Lisette’s family aboard for a very steep price...

But a Lady Always Gets the Upper Hand...

Daniel prides himself on running a tight ship, and he knows a lady will be nothing but trouble on a long voyage. Yet he can’t help but break his own ironclad rules when Lisette persuades him that being gentlemanly just this once is his wisest course of action.

What a cute, entertaining read. This is book three in the Beau Monde series but I didn't know this until just now so this can definitely be read as a stand a lone. I really liked this book it has twist and turns in the plot, it has suspense, action and a really cute love story.

Lisette is running away with her little brother and her cousin because she found out her brotheled wants to put her little brother in a asylm and collect his fortune. She has no family besides these two and a cousin in London so they all set off for London. They book passage on a ship captained by Daniel. Daniel is against having women on his ship for long voyages and first declines Lisette's offer. But then he lets his desires come forth and ultimately accepts her offer. Lisette is traveling under the guise that she's a widow and this puts her in a very uncomfortable place because now Daniel thinks he can have his way with her or at least try but little does he know Lisette is a true innocent. It makes for a very interesting ride from New Orleans to London. As all of Lisette's lies come to surface I was surprised at how accepting Daniel was I expected a much more angry response.

This is a very original historical romance story and I liked that. Like I said it had a lot of twist and turns, action and suspense which made it a very entertaining read and I would recommend it to all Historical Romance fans. I think you'll really enjoy it.
