Spooktacular Day 8: Spooky Interview and Giveaway with Author Sandra Jones

What kind of Halloween person are you? Dress up and party every year, give out candy maybe dressed up, or hide inside your house with the porch light off? I believe in extreme Halloween! Living in a 100+ year-old house, I get all the brave trick-or-treaters! The hubs likes to scare the crap out of the kiddies.
Are you a master pumpkin carver?  I did a terrific devil a few years ago when I was an art teacher. Carving pumpkins is great fun, but what to do with all the pumpkin crap later? Such a waste. I can’t cook!
Name 3 costumes you’ve worn and at what age. I’ve been a witch (2 times), a devil, a zombie (last year), a gypsy, and sadly, a pink ballerina at age 8, before I hit my Goth phase.
Find a picture of a costume you love. Shout out to Game of Throne fans!!! This is the costume I would like to have (if I were that petite!)

Do you like haunted houses or mazes? I once took a ghost tour of a famous hotel. There was a spa in the lower level. With the lights out and with a leaky pipe dripping into a tub where someone drowned, it was very convincing. I also stayed in the famous Crescent Hotel before it was on TV, and you could FEEL the weirdness in that old place. It used to be a hospital with a morgue!
Do you believe in ghosts?I’ve never seen one personally, but my husband’s family lived in a house they believed was haunted. They’re all reasonably sane people, yet they’re convinced a strange woman visits their bedrooms late at night. They can feel her sitting on the beds, staring at them!
What is your favorite Halloween tradition? When my kids were little, we rented scary movies and ate popcorn while the trick-or-treaters made their rounds. Now that they’re grown, I miss those times very much.
What is your favorite Halloween movie to watch or are you a Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown sort? Charlie Brown, all the way!!
Have you ever tricked instead of treated like toilet papering someone’s house or egging a person or house? No, but being married to a former principal, we got all the tricks!
What’s your favorite Urban Legend? I love the old tales! The Welsh, whom I love to write about in my historical romances, have all sorts of strange tales about witches, Druids, magic, and legends. In my second time travel, MOONLIGHT MADNESS (coming in January 2013, The Wild Rose Press), the hero and heroine visit Llancaiach Fawr Manor, one of the most haunted places in that country. My favorite Welsh tale is about a couple who worked on the coast as wreckers, scavenging ships. They used a light to lure ships too near the rocks, then robbed the wreckage of the vessels. One day after sinking a ship, the husband found a body washed ashore, but the man was still alive and face down. He bashed the sailor’s head in with a rock, killing him, but when he turned him over to rob him, he discovered the sailor was none other than his beloved son.

Thanks for having me. I enjoyed your terrific questions! Have a Happy Halloween!

Summary: Matthias, a heroic knight, is accused of a horrible crime he doesn’t remember. Believing his guilt, he flees his home in shame, but in the flight he stumbles across an ancient portal taking him far away to the future. In modern day Wales & far from his troubles, Matthias  guards the mystery on his ancestral property as closely as he guards his own heart—until Carrie Greer, a modern-day herbalist, accidentally discovers his secret and drags him back to the hell he’d left behind in the 13th century. Thrust into close confines with Carrie, Matthias forms a tenuous bond with her that soon ignites a burning passion. Carrie’s faith becomes his inspiration as he fights inner demons that could shatter the bond of trust growing between them. Together they face enemies of the flesh and time as Matthias attempts to win Carrie's love before his dark secret chases her away.

Great interview, Sandi! Don't enter me in the free book drawing! I've got it.

I really enjoyed our haunted hotel stay even if the ghost busters wanted to drink more than find ghosts that night! LOL

Sandi, Wish for the Moon was a wonderful book! Loved it! As for Halloween, our house is an oldie as well, and while we haven't been able to celebrate Halloween for the last couple of years (hubby and I are out of the country right now), when we do, we have a ton of fun. Something about an old house lends itself to all kinds of great decorations.

Great post! I'm with Sandra with the pumpkin carving. It is a waste if you don't do anything with the stuff from inside of the pumpkin. Growing up I remember my mom getting a pumpkin to use to make pies with so me and my brothers got to crave a design in the outer shell of it. Now I don't take time to crave a pumpkin. Wish for the Moon sounds like a very interesting story. I enjoyed reading summary for it.

Awesome post, Sandra. I love Halloween too, but I haven't dressed up in ages. Your husband's family's home sounds like it would be fun to spend the night in ghosthunting. :)

I love Halloween! I dress up up every year. And we do two parties. One for the kids and one for the adults, lol. Last year I went as Puss in Boots. This year I would love to somehow make one of the costume of the evil Queen on Once Upon a Time. I LOVE her costumes.

Great interview!

Abby--Yes! The Evil Queen is awesome. Even her house is red, back, and white. Puss in Boots sounds so fun, too!

I love your post, especially your choice of costume and your shout out to Game of Thrones, one of my favorite shows!! If I was built like Daenerys Targaryen, I'd probably dress like her everyday, not just on Halloween! lol
