Spooktacular Day 9: Spooky Interview and Giveaway with author Juli Revezzo

What kind of Halloween person are you? Dress up and party every year, give out candy maybe dressed up, or hide inside your house with the porch light off?

I like to dress up, but I’m not really a partier, so I like to give out candy.

Do you decorate outside for Halloween?

Not often no. But inside I had a few little witch and ghost figurines I put out.

Are you a master pumpkin carver?

Oh lord, no! But I love baking the pumpkin seeds.

Name 3 costumes you’ve worn and at what age.

A gypsy, a fairy, and Princess Leia

Tell us the scariest thing that has ever happened to you and it doesn’t have to be Halloween related.

My father always said he’d grown up in a haunted house. One year, we got to actually take a poke around the property, and looking in the windows, I felt the hair rise on the back of my neck. If there are such things as ghosts, they were surely there that day!

Do you like haunted houses or mazes?

Yes. Hallow-Scream at Busch Gardens is awesome if you’ve never been.

Do you believe in ghosts?

Yes and no, but they’re great fun to write about, which is why they’ve turned up in my novel, The Artist’s Inheritance and its follow up(s). J

What is your favorite Halloween tradition?

My brother used to put on “Halloween tableux” we’d call them. He’d pick a theme and decorate the house and front porch and play a part like a mad scientist or a homicidal maniac to scare—I mean, entertain—the trick or treaters.

What is your favorite Halloween movie to watch or are you a Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown sort?

While I do love the Simpsons Treehouse of Horrors episodes, if I have to answer with a movie, I’ll pick The Exorcist.

Have you ever tricked instead of treated like toilet papering someone’s house or egging a person or house?

Of course not. *innocent look*

Freddy Krueger or Jason Voorhees?

Freddy

What’s your favorite Urban Legend?

There’s several about people being thought dead and then, buried alive. That’s creepy. The weird thing is, this actually happened to one of my great aunts.

So all this ties into why I wrote the ghosts into my paranormal fantasy novel The Artist’s Inheritance. Want to know a little more about the book? Okay.

Settling into their new home in Gulf Breeze, Florida, Caitlin finds strange changes coming over her husband Trevor. He seems obsessed with a beautiful chair he’s carving.

When the nightmares deepen and ghosts begin lurking—she knows something’s not right, and not just her newfound precognitive abilities. It’s the damned chair, she’s sure. Could it be just what it seems: a mundane piece of furniture? If so, why is it attracting dark forces—the forces she suspects drove Trevor’s siblings to insanity and suicide?

Before the same happens to Trevor, Caitlin must convince him to sell his art. But armed with only a handful of allies, and little experience of the supernatural, she must proceed with caution against the hellish forces besieging her family. If she succeeds, she will break the ancestral curse. If she fails, she may lose forever the one thing she cares about most: her beloved Trevor.

The book is available in Kindle and paperback from Amazon.

Thanks for having me here today, Danielle. Happy Halloween, to you and your readers!

"The Artist's Inheritance" sounds like a very interesting story. I will have to get this story to find out if she breaks the ancestral curse or not. The Exorcist is a movie that I like to watch around Halloween.

Sounds like a great story and I'm with Becky, I'm an exorcist fan. Then again I used to live down the street from St. Alexius Hospital in St. Louis where it was rumored weird exorcist stuff took place so maybe it's just a left over from that.

Hi, y'all, thanks for all your kind comments. I appreciate them. I'm sorry I didn't stop by sooner. Swamped, you understand. :) Which might be better than getting stuck with a Swamp Thing. *g* Sorry. Halloween humor. Hallow May, yes, HallowScream is awesome. Might make it down that way this year but I don't know. I haven't done Halloween Horror Nights yet. but that's another story. Patricia, did you really live near the hospital? Wow.Spooky. Any creepy stories to tell?

Lisa, Exorcist kept me up at night when I was younger too. I guess I grew out of the scare or something. The scariest movie to me now is Sixth Sense. *shudder*

Again, thanks for all your kind words, and to Danielle for hosting me.
